Woopra Trials, Tribulations and Joys!
Hello Woopra fans!
It’s a beautiful day here in Frisco, Texas and I hope it’s nice wherever you are too!
Joy and Pain
Well, it’s been an exciting week in Woopraville. (Hey, maybe we need a Second Life island called Woopraville?) We’ve seen the joys of some of our users experiencing Woopra first hand:
- techAU’s Podcast Episode #28 (a complete video review)
- Dot Net Wizard’s Woopra In Action
- Charles McKeever’s Getting Realtime Analytics With Woopra
- Johny’s Woopra Live Web Analytics in Action (a 10 minute un-narrated demo)
(By the way, if you’ve done a review please drop us a link in the comments as we’re having a hard time searching Google for them…)
And we’ve seen the frustrations of some who are waiting (some patiently, and some impatiently) for an invitation:
- Francesco Federico – How Not To Do A Private Beta
- Clint from Instant Cognition – woopra, hoopla?
- The Last Podcast – Woopra – a lesson in how not to launch a new service
Wow, some of you guys are a tough crowd! :-) Anyway, we’d like to express our thanks for your continued patience as we improve and roll out services.
The Latest News
You may have already noticed that we re-launched our website three days ago Woopra.com using WordPress as our underlying CMS, which simultaneously gave us this fantastic blog! Also as part of the website overhaul we added bbPress to power our new forums. Of course, since we hate multiple logins as much as the next person, Elie and Jad made sure that we would only need a single login for WordPress, bbPress, the member area, and the Woopra Client! (Thanks guys!)
Now that the Web site is up and running we are going to turn our development attention to a number of activities that will not be so visible in the coming week – bux fixes, feature additions, and infrastructure enhancements. Rest assured however, that we are working around the clock in multiple shifts to keep advancing the ball! The current plan is to spend next week making some necessary improvements, and by the following week begin to work through the process of approving sites currently on the waiting list.
On a more strategic level, we are working on a number of significant business initiatives surrounding Woopra. So not only are we progressing on the short term initiatives, we’re making plans for long term growth of Woopra as well.
You’re Part of This Too!
I do want to make mention that Jad, Elie and I consider all of you to be integral to the successful launch of Woopra!
Woopra started out as an idea about how to deliver something really unique and valuable to Webmasters (just like myself, or Elie), and it is with encouragement from others that we hesitantly decided to launch it at WordCamp Dallas.
Since that incredible market introduction our motivation has come from all of the fantastic things that you’ve all been saying, and we really need you to keep up the work of spreading the news.
Woopra should be a community, not just a stats program. So since we all have something in common, please help us answer questions, spread the word, and stay motivated! In the meantime, we’re going to work on some integrated tools that will help people get to know one another and be even more productive with our Web properties.
Till next time.
John P.
Hey,
I’ve been anxious to get my website approved so I can get my blog (just decided on the name!) going and my review up (www.woopraville.com) :)
A friend of mine has it already and he’s been rubbing it in my face. I was gonna see if you guys could activate the site so I can start using it and put up a review. If not I am gonna spend a couple days at my friends house to see it in action and then write a review based on that. I can already tell it’s gonna be awesome.
I want to review it also as soon as I get an invite!!!
John,
I’ve been using Woopra for a couple of weeks now and I can’t say enough good things about the application. It is the first third party application that I’ve ever wanted to pay for just so that I can add all my sites to it. That’s not just lip service man. I’m telling you this is the best thing since the spice girls broke up. I’m hooked and I can wait for you guys to green light this thing for the rest of the world.
Please email me if you have some invitations that I can give to my readers. I’ve been getting a lot of wide eyed looks when I show Woopra off. People immediately see the value. I plan to demo it as a special preview for my Dallas meetup group next week. I know their gonna love it.
Keep up the great work and count me in on any future events.
Take care,
Charles McKeever

Hey guys
Just waiting for my site to be approved and then I am sure that I will love woopra.
Another user waiting for approval.
“Please allow up to 7 business days to receive an approval response.”
Man, I’ve been looking at that message for 16 days now. The daily withholding of approval is really damaging my self-esteem.
Gonzo, Shamus, and the other 10,000 people waiting…
In the words of former President Clinton, “I feel your pain.” :-)
You cannot possibly imagine how badly we want to approve you guys! Hang in there just a little longer and we should have the infrastructure ready soon. We want to make sure that when you do get to begin using it, the experience is everything you’ve dreamed of!
John
If the actual implementation is as tasty as the video on WordCamp Dallas I can wait a little longer for an invite. “A meal rushed is a meal ruined” my momma always used to say.
As a Texas Based Computer repair Web Hosting and Web development company we are definitely interested in providing real time live stat and information to our clients. Well Done wOOpra well done
Actually I wait for this application for two months but there’s no response for my submit.why?
Are you too busy?
@ kmior:
I believe you will find the reason for the delay and the mass approval of requests on Friday. We are VERY busy with the development of Woopra, which was released to the public view long before it was ready. We had no idea it would get this response. Everyone wants it, but we only had limited server space and now we are starting to open things up. Ahead of schedule, but we’re working to meet the demand.
Thanks for your patience.

its work on Mac?
@ Francis Baillargeon:
I will work on the Mac, however, see this information in the forums on the Mac Client Java Issue and how to fix it. If your Mac is older, and cannot use the most current Java, I’m sorry, but currently, Woopra will not work.
We’re exploring alternatives for the future.
