Mass Approvals Well Under Way
As Lorelle recently reported, an updated version of the Woopra client software was released into the wild today, and it really is fantastic. Elie and Jad have been working miracles during the course of this last week, each working about 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, to bring us all new features, bug fixes, and my personal favorite - massive speed improvements.
In fact, I just can’t get over how much faster Woopra is now. I mean, I wasn’t complaining before… but it feels like everything happens about 500% quicker. Is it just me, or do you guys notice this too? Anyway, we all owe these guys some love for their hard work and sacrifice. It seems to be paying off nicely.
Now for the bad news. While our technical staff was sleeping, we’ve developed a DNS problem that is affecting some people, but not everyone.
Which brings me to the main point of this post… well over a thousand new users have been approved in the last 24 hours - with thousands more to come tomorrow, and a lot of you are going to be looking for those downloads. Please give us a few hours to get the DNS issue straightened out if you, like me, are experiencing any issues. Personally, I’m heading to bed now that it’s 3am and I’ve put in my 15 hours for the day!

Can’t thank the Woopra team enough! It’s an amazing bit of software!

Thank you very much for approving my website.
It works great!

You Guys should be commended for your labor of love. WOOPRA IS the next big thing. I’ve been playing on my site in one computer while watching WOOPRA respond on another computer. The response time is close to instantaneous!!! And the ticker tape at the bottom is amazing. You have exceeded my expectations by much.

Hey John. Fantastic work for sure. It’s easy being patient when you know what you’re waiting for is such a great thing. I’m looking forward to my number coming up for the website approvals. I still have two sites pending approval and I can’t wait to see what Woopra tells me about them. You guys are definitely on the edge here and it’s a joy to watch it all unfold.
Get some rest and then get back to work
Thanks for everything,
Charles McKeever

[...] Woopra was opened up to the world at the Dallas WordCamp where I met John for the first time. His talk was not on Woopra but he introduced it to the event in a very short, three minute spiel. Since then Woopra has generated a tremendous amount of buzz in blogging circles. In short, Woopra is a stats tool for websites that lives as an application on your desktop (among other places) and can provide live webstats on your visitors. I like it since it is fast and since the developers gave me an opportunity to look at the insides early on, I have developed quite a fondness for it. They are in growth mode and with the recent upgrade to their desktop client, they can support more locations and are in the process of approving a large number of new users for their service. [...]

I know how you guys feel - it’s Sunday and i’m into my 20th hour working (keeping me awake with wordpress). From what i’ve seen of woopra, I’m already impressed - no clue how you guys will make money from this, tho…
April 28th, 2008 at 3:43 am
Well done, keep up the good work!
Cant wait till i get approved!
I know what you mean though when you suddenly find something taking off way faster than you first thought, its just crazy.
April 28th, 2008 at 6:11 am

April 28th, 2008 at 7:48 am

cant wait, so looking forward to my approval
April 28th, 2008 at 11:05 am
hmm it takes forever to get approved :p
anyways. I hope you approve test sites as well, because I have a custom made site, all made by me, that I was thinking of writing a woopra plugin to…(woopra would be a great value add for my customer)

Would love to have my sites approved. Been waiting 3 weeks. Many thanks,

I have been awaiting approval within hours of this service being announcd, what order are you picking people? I would assume I was within the first couple of hundred.
April 28th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
@ pcdoc:
The order is first come, first serve, and a lot of people jumped on this in the first few hours of being made public. There was talk of putting a cap on the number of users, or selecting a specific few for the initial beta testing, but we’ve decided to open the doors up to a wide spectrum of users, which also puts a toll on the servers. So we’re taking this slowly and appreciate your patience.
We are also very anxious for your feedback in the Woopra Forums to help us improve Woopra.

Incredible program…worth the wait!
April 28th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
Man, that’s great news for your service, but bad news for me. I just signed up yesterday…I guess I’ll stop checking to see if it’s approved for a few months. Sigh. And I was so stoked to use Woopra! Keep up the good work, though, and take this deluge of interest for what it is: a very good thing. Ho-hum.
April 28th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Thanks for the update…was just checking in to see if my site was added yet
April 29th, 2008 at 2:15 am
@ Lorelle:
Hi - Its clear there are a huge number of us left to be approved after the weekend, although (and i’m sure i’m not alone) the post indicated we’d all be approved this clearly didn’t happen. I can’t even imagine the work load you guys have put on yourself recently but communication is the key here. No one from Woopra has yet to address the issues of all the forum/blog members searching for an approval.
We are all really keen to use and promote this service if it does what it claims, but its slightly worrying communication has dried up. A quick blog post with a status update would put our minds at ease. I’m sure we’d all be happy even if a date was in another weeks time, we just need to be kept informed on when we are likely to be approved.
Thanks,

I was approved today, just be patient!
I just activated it on my weblog, and I must say…. Very sweet! My site isn’t very high traffic, so I don’t make the servers stress to much
But still, I really like this new approach to Web Stats!
April 29th, 2008 at 5:22 am
thankfully received my invitation and have just “put it live” on h4×3d.com, five minutes in the game already hundreds of results
April 29th, 2008 at 8:50 am
Thanks for sending me invite and approving my site.
I would say its AMAZING!!!
I love Woopra! Google analytics is way primitive in front of your product! You rock!
Though, there are few suggestions that I have (that I found from usage of Woopra till now!) and I am sure I will keep on getting new ideas and suggestions, is there any place where I can add value?
April 29th, 2008 at 11:33 am
HOORAY, my woopra is live now, an 11% of my traffic is from Hungary, wild!
April 29th, 2008 at 11:39 am
Thanks for the acceptance. Woopra is way cool. I can’t take my eyes off the Woopra dashboard. I set my notifications to alert me when I have a new visitor. I can hear it when people are viewing my blog while I’m working on something else. Great job!
April 29th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
@ jigarmehtamscit:
We have a whole section called Feature Requests in the Woopra Forums. Let us hear from you.
And thank you!

@ devicewire:
Actually, I believe the announcements warned that the approvals would be coming in groups. As for not responding to every inquiry for approval, we’re responding to them as a group, too, via the forums and here, as well as individually.
You’re right. We were caught off guard by the enthusiastic response and more time is spent managing the approval inquiries than working on improving Woopra.
It will calm down soon, as the approvals continue to be made.
But we warned, we also reserve the right to stop accepting approvals while the product is under testing. We’re doing the best we can right now, but things could change until we have the server load issues figured out. Such is the way of all testing.
We’ve released announcements every few days when there is new news, as we did this weekend with the approvals plus a new version - Wow! We are working on a way to let people know how long the wait is, but honestly, we’d rather get these approvals underway and get back to improving the product so we can get it out to the public without any wait times. We’re doing our best and thanks again for spreading the word and being patient.
April 29th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
@ Lorelle
Thanks for responding. It really is appreciated and its great to see a company is trying to help rather than ignore its users.
Its also great you are keen to get us all up and running as soon as possible - having such a great product you guys must be over the moon with the uptake and comments so far received! Congratulations !
I don’t mind waiting as i’m sure its worth the wait!

@ devicewire:
Thanks. Remember, there are only four of us and we’re working virtually on two different sides of the planet. We’re giving it our all to bring you the best product possible, and some little things slide, but we’ll get to them as fast as we can, putting our energy where it counts.
And thanks again!

I do have another question: will an amazing service like this remain “free” ? It is truly delightful to talk to my visitors and really see what is going on. I shall definately blog about woopra!
