The Latest Updates
We’ve had a lot of excitement in the last week with Woopra, so let me start with a recap of some notable events.
- We completed the mass approvals process early this week and now have well over 10,000 folks Whoopin it up!
- Great news for Mac users, Java for Mac OSX was finally released. It only runs on 64bit versions, so if you have an older machine your best option is still to run Woopra in Windows under Parallels.
- Lorelle announced a new series of weekly Forum discussions called Woopra Weekly. The first topic this week is “What do the numbers mean to you?” I’m really looking forward to these weekly discussions to better learn how to utilize information to more effectively drive my readership.
- Our friends at RocketTheme released Woopra plugins for Joomla versions 1 and 1.5.
- We released the brand new Woopra Sharing Access feature which allows users to grant access to their site statistics to other users. This feature has been highly requested, and it works great! I’m really enjoying it myself…
- I learned that the spam filter in the Forums was going nuts! There were a ton of comments marked as spam and not one of them was. So hopefully I’ve taken care of the problem, but it’s funny that no one complained!
- Meanwhile, we passed the 1,000 posts mark in the forums (up to 1,150 actually)! Considering there are only a small number of us, we still need everyone’s help to answer the newbie’s questions and help keep the forums friendly and open.
Items we have on the docket for the coming week include:
- Another major client update.
- A new and improved WordPress Plugin.
- A major overhaul of our behind-the-scenes tracking servers to improve performance and efficiency.
- Increased capacity to continue approving users and scaling Woopra.
Since we have a number of critical milestones to meet in the coming week, we do not anticipate any additional Beta user approvals. I will provide an update towards the end of the week once we have a better idea of when we might be approving additional users.
In the meantime we continue ask for everyone’s understanding, patience and assistance as we work as fast as humanly possible to bring you a reliable and robust Woopra experience.

Are the aprovals going to stop ? I have a rocketthemed site all set up with about 1000 page views/day. I can’t wait to view the data, if i still can.

Slightly wondering how the WordPress plugin could be improved?! True, I’ve been using Woopra for just about a week now, but for me, the plugin is doing everything I could possibly expect from it: collecting data, and sending it to Woopra for me to drool at!
Well, I shall remain intrigued until it’s released!

Woopra is truly amazing. I have just released my full review including screen shots and an offer for a free live demo of it via desktop sharing provided by sharemypc.com
stop by today if your not already in the beta and see why this is going to be the new big kid on the block.

@ checky:
We are approving applicants in batches and not making any individual approvals. We’re doing our best, but as John said, we may also have to draw the line somewhere. Most first beta test programs get a dozen or more people to put it to the test. We have over 10,000! In order to control the testing phase, and put our focus on the development for release, the line has to be drawn soon.
Hopefully, your site will be included, but we’re doing our best. Thanks for your patience.

so how long do we have to wait to get approved ?
sounds like another “blogrush”
it sounded like a great idea, then they got overloaded and the service turned to crap

Thanks Lorelle for the reply even if it was to checky. I hope this blogrush prediction is a hoax. I do remember how these layered people took care of Novalogics servers.

One question, out of pure curiosity:
Working with web statistics and analytics for a living, I happened to stumble upon woopra. It really REALLY looks exciting from the screenshots, the information on this site, and the bunches of blog-posts on a wide variety of sites.
I wonder though, will this analytics tool be opened up to sites with massive numbers of pageviews/unique users? (By massive I mean 250.000+ hits daily)
Regards

We will be offering different versions for high demand sites, so stay tuned for news on that. Right now, while testing is ongoing, we must limit the demand on the servers or we will spend more time dealing with the server issues than working on development. I’m sure you understand that, and have been there, done that.

Can you help me understand what the release of Java 1.6 on Mac means for actually and finally getting this app to work on the Mac? I just updated the Java update and then downloaded Woopra but it won’t let me install it on the Intel MacBook Pro.
Please help!

The plugins capabilities is really restricted by the functionality provided by Woopra (and hopefully the API). So I am really anticipating what kind of updates will the WP have. Which reminds me (not really forgetting) of a new plugin submitted 5 days ago, and probably never got noticed. Starting to wonder if Woopra loves new blogging software, or should one take his luggage somewhere else

I just posted the comment above when I was logged it and it shows me as Anonymous. I had to logout to post this one. Seems like an issue.

dmondark: We’ll look into the issue of the login and comment name. Thanks for pointing that out.
We have Plugins coming in constantly for all the different services and are running tests on them as fast as we can, while trying to switch and set up servers and approve new members, and work on development, respond to questions in the forum, and…there are only a few of us and we’re doing the best we can to cope with all the sudden attention.
We’re putting together a list of new Woopra Plugins, testing as fast as we can, so stay tuned.

@Lorelle I appreciate your response. I understand how much work you guys have to do now, but I can promise it will all turn out pretty well

have been waiting since 2 days after the Dallas wordpress camp for my approval and nothing. This is getting ridiculous.

Just wondering if the approvals have stopped. I have been waiting weeks.
