Client Update and Mass Approvals Underway!

Woopra News, June 2nd, 2008 by John P.

Woopra Client Updates

new-woopra-live-viewWow, I love to be the one to deliver good news! As all of our current users will have noticed, today we pushed out a new version of the Woopra client software. This version incorporates a number of bug fixes as well as some new features that will be immediately noticed.

However, what you might not have realized is that the client software goes hand in hand with a comprehensive update of the back end server architecture that actually gathers the data. This reworking of the server allows for dramatically improved performance as well as a few bug fixes.

Three of the things that I particularly like are:

  • The live map view now displays the page that a visitor is reading as they view it.
  • The calendar has been updated to a cool new extremely easy to select slider bar.
  • We’ve added multi-monitor support to the full screen live map.

There have been other updates which we’ll outline in the next couple of days, but I just wanted to point out these new highly noticeable items. I would also like to mention that this client update was a minor release, and we have a more comprehensive one in the works which will likely be ready in 3 weeks or less.

Mass Approvals Nearly Complete

Now, if releasing entirely updated server and client applications wasn’t enough, Jad and Elie have also kicked off the latest round of Web site approvals! By tomorrow basically everyone who has been waiting should be up and running with Woopra. This brings the number of Wooprites up over the 20,000 user mark… not bad for the first 60 days!

Thanks for the patience everyone, and make sure and drop Elie and Jad thank you notes because they’ve been working like slaves for weeks! I’m telling you, they could really use a vacation about now. ;-)

  12. pechgehabt says:

Many things dont work since the update:
    - referrer (google): show google ()
    - to many online client counts (way to much!). Seems that old clients don´t get properly deleted

  13. cyberlarson says:

I see that you leave the users up longer in the live section, that makes much sense.

  14. pechgehabt says:

@cyberlarson: do you know how long?

  15. Keith says:

It seems that after installing the new client and then restarting my computer I lost all of Event Notifications. Or even closing woopra and then opening again I lose them all. Hopefully this can be an easy fix.

  16. @ Keith:

Have you mentioned this in the Woopra Forums? Be sure and give your feedback on the new release there so our support crew can track these things. Thanks!

  17. @ playrough:

Thanks for your information, and I do hope you are posting this information on the Woopra Forums so the support team can track the feedback. Thank you.

  18. John P. says:

Yeah, folks I have to chime in with Lorelle… all error reports in the blog comments are ignored! You’ve got to get these reports into the bug forums! :-)

Updates are automatic in Woopra client ? or I need to download again from the Woopra Website?

I have 1.1.2.1 beta version.. is the latest?

    thank you

  24. @ andgomez:

Updates are automatic. They happen when you log into Woopra. If you are currently logged in, log out and log back in.

And yes, that is the new version.

  25. Nahu says:

Thanks for the approval, it’s great to finally be part of the bunch :P
Im loving everything I see so far, rock on!

  30. elpie says:

I am really keen to try Woopra out but have come just a little too late for the last round of approvals.

I hereby volunteer to help out with the approval process (I would, of course, make sure my application was approved! LOL)

  31. Lin says:

I’m loving all the new updates, additional features and great graphics!

Woopra has given me numerous ideas for posts because of the ability to see keywords google searchers are using. Whoohoo! :)

Thanks very much for the approval. Woopra is up and running on my site and I love it!
I haven’t had time yet to do any thorough testing (just using ;)) but will report back on any findings.

Thanks again for a great tool.

  35. senlin says:

    Thanks for all the approvals!

Brilliant software! I love to see how my visitors navigate around my site!

If Jad and Elie need a vacation I would be willing to offer them a free day trip to the Great Wall! The only thing is that they have to come to China themselves though… :)

  36. James says:

Well done on another fine update – for when I’m at home!

Unfortunately for us stuck behind corporate firewalls etc it seems to still be blocked. I think this is because you are still using the same port as MSN.

There have been repeated threads and posts in the forums that have been added and not yet been answered, even since before the mass approvals began, regarding this issue and when a fix might be available.

Hopefully it will be included in the next upgrade that you mentioned. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for this because I really like what you have managed to achieve so far, but I want to be able to show it off to my colleagues!

  37. madhuram says:

Hi, Just joined. Love to see the stats for my site. Waiting for approval. Please approve my site to get this started. Thanks again for a wonderful piece of software, JK

  38. dmackland says:

Got set up today and the videos on youtube etc… do not do it justice. Been using it for about 3 hours now and wow – Got it running on a large plasma screen in the office with stats from http://www.abertay.ac.uk and have been watching the people stopping and watching the Live view – mouths open drooling. Can you add some mobile stats – Blackberry, iPhone, N95 etc… DM, University of Abertay Dundee

  39. loic.robertson says:

Can’t wait to get my website approval ID for http://www.audleytravel.com – this looks amazing.

  40. Andika says:

  41. Mike Y. says:

Seems approvals are still got stuck on hold…been waiting for a week now and still nothing in the Inbox from woopra….a slowdown again???

It would be nice to have access to what everyone is talking about.

  42. @ Mike Y.:

Woopra currently has over 20,000 approvals for our beta release, representing a huge group of beta testers. Access to Woopra for the general public is coming soon, as we turn our attention back to developing the program and fixing a few bugs that naturally develop along the way. We may open up to include more approvals, so stay tuned for news and thanks for your patience.

  43. fastest963 says:

still no news on any possible mass approvals coming anytime soon?
