Release Candidate Available for Immediate Download
After many weeks of development we are about ready with the next major release of the Woopra client. This version incorporates a number of feature enhancements, bug fixes and performance improvements. However, before we push it out to the masses we would like to have a few volunteers download and test it for a couple of days to make sure nothing major pops up.
So, if you’re feeling brave and are willing to test what we believe is the next complete release of Woopra you can find it here:
- Windows Version
- Mac Version
- Unix Version (Updated)
Please, note that this build version is still 1.1.2.2, but it will be Woopra 1.2 when it rolls out next week to the public.
There is also a discussion about this release over on the forums.
Thanks in advance to all those willing to help out!

gzip: sfx_archive.tar.gz: not in gzip format
I am sorry, but the installer file seems to be corrupted.
If you downloaded that file please try it again. If you
transfer that file with ftp please make sure that you are
using binary mode.

I uploaded a fixed version.

Running Vista, and it installed just fine and is running. Anything in particular we should be looking for?
Only trouble installing is that it wouldn’t overwrite my original Woopra install folder, so I created a new one called Woopra1.2. I’m guessing that was by design though.

I’ve just installed it on vista, and noticed that a UAC elevation is required for Woopra to run.

Works great on OS 10.5.4 I just used the standard install of Java 5.0

Doesn’t seem to shut down nicely on my XP SP2 machine. I’ve had to manually kill the process a few times now and restart the client. Otherwise it’s working great.

Steve:
same for Ubuntu. process keeps hanging around after closing the woopra window itself.

Works fine for me on XP SP2 at work - at least it gets as far as “Connected. Loading websites…” but I’m in a corporate network and think that that is a known issue.
Will try this at home tonight on 10.5.4.

installed on Win XP Pro. No system Try Icon. Also didn’t allow me to install into the same directory as the previous woopra installation. Forced me to put it into another directory so i’m guessing i now have 2 installations? other than that it seems to be running ok.

It works great in Windows XP SP2 but when I clicked close button, there’s no icon of Woopra appeared in the notification area(in the clock area) unlike the previous version you clicked on the close it will just minimize in the notification area.

So when do you push it out to the masses ?

@ psneeze:
The beta testing system is on track and will take as long as it takes. We’ll keep you informed as we go. Hopefully we’ll have a road map soon.
As for approvals, we understand how important it is that you have access to the best quality web analytics around. We’re working hard with our 25,000 beta testers to get Woopra ready for full release. Thank you for your patience.
