How to Help Woopra and Woopra Members on the Forums

Woopra ForumsThe is the place to help Woopra improve, and we are excited with the wonderful community growing in the Forums among our more than 25,000 beta testers who report in with bug reports, praises, criticism, and fantastic suggestions for features and improvements in Woopra. With your help, Woopra is growing quickly and better every day.

Many of you want to know more about how you can help Woopra improve. Here are some guidelines to help you get started.

Search First

If you are troubleshooting an issue with Woopra, please search the forums first to see if someone has already reported the issue and possibly found a solution.

If the issue you are having is with the installation or setup of your Woopra account, see the .

Also check the forum tag list to see if a keyword is listed. If we find you are duplicating discussions, we may refer you to the central discussion on the issue to better help everyone find the answers they need.

How to Sign Up to Beta Test Woopra

Please do not make requests for approvals, invites, or access to Woopra in the Woopra Forums. Woopra is currently in private beta testing and open to those willing to participate in the beta test phase of development.

To sign up for Woopra as a beta tester, visit our Woopra sign up page. Approvals for beta testers will be handled on a first come, first serve basis as needed to test upcoming versions of the application.

Using Woopra during this private beta testing phase comes with the responsibility to report bugs and participate in the to help improve Woopra.

Beta testers understand that new applications will have coding problems, bugs, and be unstable as it grows. Servers will go down during maintenance, updates, and migrations. Alerts will be posted in the forums. Not every version will have every feature working perfectly. That’s the nature of beta testing.

If you are unable to meet that responsibility, be patient. The public version of Woopra is coming out soon.

Post in the Appropriate Forum Section

Please put your forum post in the appropriate section to ensure you get the help and support you need, and that your bug reports, fixes, and recommendations will reach the right person. Currently, the forum sections are:

Please add tags to your forum posts and use appropriate keywords and search terms to help others find your comment, problem, or solution in the future.

Be Specific

Please report the issue in detail with as much specific information as possible so we can help you and attempt to duplicate and troubleshoot the issue. Make your forum post title as keyword specific as you can so everyone understands what the issue is and can respond faster.

At the least, we will need:

  • Woopra version
  • Operating system
  • Is the issue with your website, the website membership statistics, or desktop client (software) on your computer?
  • Are you using the WordPress Plugin, another plugin or add-on, or the manually added JavaScript on your site?
  • Is this a WordPress, Moveable Type, TypePad, Blogger, or other static or dynamic website?
  • If the issue is server related, let us know the type of server you are using.
  • If you have made alterations in the JavaScript, please let us know as they may be part of the problem and solution.
  • If you find the JavaScript or Plugin is in conflict with another one, please provide information on that script or Plugin.
  • Please use tags and specific keywords to help others find your forum post when they search.

Describe the issue with proper names for the panels, features, and links within Woopra so we know exactly what you are talking about. The “third widget from the top of the blue icon” is not helpful. The more specific you are with your issue, the easier we and fellow Woopra members can respond.

One Topic Per Forum Post

Please address only one topic or issue per forum post. Long laundry lists of issues are hard to respond to and track. The more specific your request, the faster may be your response.

Posting Long Lines of Code

If you need to post some code, if it is restricted to only a few lines, please include it in your blog post between backticks:

`<?php wp_footer(); ?>`

If it is longer than two or three lines, please post it in an online paste bin, such as pastebin and include the link in the post. For more information on publishing code in blog posts, comments, and forums, see Writing and Publishing Code in Your Blog and Blog Comments.

Not Every Post Needs an Answer

We are doing our best to respond to as many forum posts and questions as possible, but realize that not every post needs an answer. If you have a specific question, ask clearly. If your feature request, comment, recommendation, or bug report does not require an answer, it might not get one.

Don’t worry. We’re reading every one.

Help Each Other

The Woopra team is small and spread across the planet and may not be able to respond in a timely manner based upon our various time zones. We are doing our best to take turns giving it our all to each part of the Woopra project. Be patient with us as we grow.

In the meantime, please help each other as much as possible. Our Woopra members are the best and great people to know. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and web expertise. And we learn so much from you!

Play Nice

It’s the first rule in all online activity: Play nice. Be respectful of us and each other. We’re all doing our best and while we may forget to say thank you all the time, we’re like family. We mean it even when we don’t say it.

As part of our responsibilities to play nice, we will do our best to protect you and help you on our forums. We will edit any posts with information that may violate or risk privacy. We will clean out forum spam and offensive content, and work hard to keep topics on track without interfering in the social interaction. We have a fairly open comment policy, and we will work hard to serve the best interests of our members.

Thank You For Helping Woopra

Your input is invaluable. If you have a feature request or an idea to improve Woopra, leave us a comment in our Feature Requests section. We keep a list of all of your requests. And check them out. You may find a request that you would like to see in Woopra. Add your opinion on the request or your vote for it to help us determine if the majority of users want this feature. Your recommendations may help us push this feature into the next version faster.

We have a and have started monitoring Woopra mentions on Twitter. We can’t respond to every tweet, but we’re watching, so keep tweeting.

Thank you to everyone who has pitched in and helped us and our fellow Woopers to customize and tweak Woopra. All Woopra members and testers are invited to check in and tell us about your Woopra experience. We may be writing articles about you featuring you and your site and how you use Woopra, and might even invite you to guest blog on the blog, now incorporated into the desktop client, bringing the latest information about Woopra, web analytics and more to your computer.

We’re planning some great events for our Woopra members, so get involved and join the club.
