Introducing the new Woopra 1.2
Today we’re proud to announce the release of the Woopra 1.2 client software which includes a long list of updates, bug fixes, and feature additions.
UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS: To update simply restart your Woopra client software and it should automatically detect and download the latest version. If you have any problems simply uninstall your current version and manually download the new version.
Among the many significant changes to the client, here are the “Top 12 New Features of Woopra 1.2″:
- All New Home Page: The first thing you’ll notice is the all new home page which displays recent Woopra blog posts as well as a list of all monitored sites on the left side of the screen – complete with a histogram and basic stats for each. The most important feature of the new Home page is that there are a number of additional improvements on their way for future releases which will become available here to make every Webmaster’s job just a bit easier. Stay tuned!
- Support for Machines Running Java 1.5: This means all Mac users (not just those running OSX) can now run Woopra. With these updates virtually every system should be able to host the application.
- Map Customization: We’ve had many people telling us they want to add their logo to the visitor map so they can use it for public display purposes, so here you go! Simply select Manage > Customize Live Map to add your logo to the visitor map.

- Color-coded Visitor Map: A new color coded Map option is now available in the My Visitors area of the dashboard which gives a quick visualization of the number of visitors from each country.

- Analytics Filtering Improvements: A number of improvements to the filtering of referrer and search engine data were implemented, resulting in more accurate reporting in the Analytics tab.
- File Menu Standardization: Changes have been made to the application File menu to improve standardization in Windows and Mac OS.
- Live Visitor Counts on the Website Tabs: For those of us monitoring multiple sites it used to take too much work to quickly see how many live visitors were on each site. We’ve fixed that nuisance by adding the Live visitors to each tab.

- New Login System: Now when monitoring multiple Web sites, if one server becomes disconnected for any reason it does not log out of all other sites.
- Highlighted Tabs During Site Visits: In addition to showing the number of users on each tab for Web sites, the tabs also highlight for each page view to a site.
- Significant Memory Handling Improvements: Certain components of the display have been streamlined to save RAM, especially for clients viewing multiple Web sites.
- Database Improvements Resulting in Multiple Speed Enhancements: There is a noticeable improvement in speed when switching between tabs as well as when initially loading the client interface.
- Changes Implemented For Future Updates: A number of improvements were built into the interface which should make updates smoother going forward.
We’ve made significant changes to the back end and server systems over the past few weeks. Although Woopra was performing at acceptable levels for our current base of clients, we believed there was room for improvement in the efficiency of our back end systems. As a result, we invested significant resources in this area and were able to improve performance by nearly 50%.
I’m sure I could go on for hours about all of the improvements we’ve baked into this release, but it’s time you see for yourself. Start Woopra on your computer and let it upgrade and check out all the new features and power that will change how you view your blog stats forever.
Thanks for all your hard work!
>> Thanks for all your hard work!
Do we need to reinstall wordpress plugin? Or only exe was changed?
woopra is the best ever had
That’s excellent, thanks a lot Woopra team! Your hard work is much appreciated and you definitely continue to be one of the best website analytics services =]
Thanks everyone on the Woopra Team. This is an excellent program which I will be recommending to as many people I can!
Well done.
Thank You!
I’m sure 1.2 is going to be even better than the already excellent program. You guys rock.
I’m really glad this version fixed the redirect com null issue I’ve been having. Woopra is now fun to use again!
Very great work, it rocks! :)
It’s a great work, many thanks.
The automatic update to Woopra 1.2 is done fine.
The code snippet for Wordpress is done by hand. In the new version all work good, but the counter for hits on country does not his work :-( The visits and hits on overview are allrigth. I’ll see, what tomorrow happens, when the counters will be reset.
Very nice work. The Interface looks a lot cleaner and more organized. I also like how the blog entries are there when you log in, since I don’t get to check out this site that much. Thanks for the upgrade1
I would still really like to see the possibility for me to customizing the “Woopra Chat”.
- Set my own picture (Using manual installation into my own built website)
- Set the colors and look of the box to fit the site design
- Change the heading from “Woopra Chat” to “Custom”
- Able to set a start message. e.g “Ask a question to [site/firm name] ]ive, regards [my name]”
When can we expect to see this?
Thanks for this new version!!

CTech,
There are a number of improvements which we want to make to the Woopra chat, but I’m guessing that we are still several weeks away from getting to this. Ultimately you can look forward to quite a bit of additional functionality from it including the ability to embed a click-to-chat button in your Web site that allows the chats to come to you.
At the moment, the team is still small and we have a pretty packed development schedule, in addition to a number of business issues we are working on. So, it might even have to wait until we hire a couple of new members of staff. So, if you know any Java / PHP / Javascript geniuses tell them that I’m looking for them.

Thank you so much! you guys are so amazing!!!
I can no longer close woopra on the taskbar.
[...] Woopra 1.2 acabou de ser lançado e naturalmente a atualização automática do programa cliente no meu Mac não funcionou. Tive que fazer o download e instalar manualmente. Great job with the update guys!! really impressed so far

A brilliant piece of software. I am in stats heaven!
After logging in, my sites are stuck on “Connecting” and never progresses after this update. I’m using the wordpress plugin of woopra on this one. Just noticed that the code had the “var” in it while the wordpress plugin didn’t. Prior to the update, everything is fine.
Anyone have an idea?
I am having the same problem as xzero012. I log in and my only site is stuck in “connecting”. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Woopra a couple of times, but it doesn’t fix the problem. Prior to the new version update, I had no problems with Woopra.
i have been waithing for over a week to be approved – i heard about you on the wordpress podcast and jumped right onto the website signed up and downloaded the software registered my website and now i have been waiting – how long am i going to have to wait?
See my post in Bug Reports section.
Woopra attempts to update but crashes and refuses to let me login.
Awesome update. Nice to see these features implemented (esp the logo on map). Well done and keep up the good work!

Woopra Rocks
Thanks alot
Greetings from Morocco
Regarding my post above: the automatic update didn’t work and results in an endless loop, but the manual install worked fine.
@ forkmedia:
I assume you are getting help in the forums, though be patient as we go through all the reports. And I assume you followed the instructions by completely closing Woopra and then opening it again.
Java just released an update in the past couple days and we’re testing to ensure that their new version isn’t causing any problems with the release of Woopra. Make sure you let them know in the forums of the version of Java you have. Thanks!
Congratulations for the commitment of the team, and thanks for sharing with us!
I noticed that where it said “page views” on the dashboard overview, it now says “hits”. I don’t think this is the right terminology. A “hits” would encompass the total file requests (graphics, css files, javascript, etc). I think you had it right with the term “page view” on the previous version.
I’m referring to the section of the dashboard where it shows an “Overview” of the recent days (Daily tab) with a column for “visits” and “hits”.
It’s been going on a week since I signed up and none of my sites are approved yet…What’s up with that??? Dave

I thought the other version was already great, but this one is certainly better. Thanks for the hard work!
Love the new upgrades. Woopra is like nothing else out there and provides me with the tools and data to make improvements to my sites immediatly.
:( After update, the software dont work! :( The sites no connectin more…
Live count on tabs is great! Nice work!
@ Dave Burnett:
Some people have waited for much longer. Woopra is under private beta testing. We approve beta testers when resources are available. Thank you for your enthusiasm and patience. We now have over 25,000 approved users. Stay tuned for more approvals soon.
@ pageviews:
Thanks for the feedback. Make sure you direct all feedback like this in the Woopra Forums so our team there can respond and take note.
All bug reports and feedback is directed to the Woopra Forums, please.
This way, the whole community of beta testers can see them and participate.
great job on getting 1.2 out… it looks good to me and I like some of the changes, the map is much more useful with the color codeing and it seems more responsive.
I like many other though are desperate for improvements to the chat functionality… ‘Click-to-Chat’ is a must have.. if only I was a competent Java Developer I would offer to do it
hi,
with this new update i couldn’t use woopra again. connecting and connecting….and never does it.
do i have to do something new?
thanks,
cf
Thanks for this great software and your latest update!
@ cristian:
Have you reported this in the Woopra forums and checked out the solutions many are offering there?

I’m impressed. Thx to the team! Keep on doing this great work…
Thanks a lot this work great, thanks for all the work
Yeah Woopra is cool!
The only annoying thing is adding new sites. Since you have to wait long before you can view the stats for those sites..
But it’s still beta! I’ll post some features requests!
thanks!
