Woopra Plugin for WordPress 1.3 Updated

Woopra News, August 28th, 2008 by Elie K
Quick update for people having problems with updating the Woopra Website ID:
Download download the latest updated version of the Woopra WordPress Plugin.

As usual, our Woopra community has proven to be very supportive and the feedback from the recently released Woopra WordPress Plugin has been extraordinary. As Jad and I traveled from the United States to Lebanon for a few weeks before we return for the exciting Blog World Expo in September, the Plugin went live in time for WordCamp 2008 in San Francisco - and we were out of touch.

Thank goodness for the incredible Woopra Community which jumped in to test the new Plugin. They helped each other figure out the problems and offered solutions until we could get back online. You made us feel like we were a part of the community, not just the developers. We are so grateful to everyone for pitching in when needed. Thanks to you and your feedback, we have updated the Woopra WordPress Plugin and added some great new features.

A special thanks to Shane Froebel of The Rabbit’s Hole who was everywhere supporting Woopra members on the Forum and helping fix bugs and report the errors. He’s pitched in to help code part of the Plugin, so three cheers for Shane!

What’s New in the Woopra WordPress Plugin 1.3?

Woopra Settings in the WordPress Administration PanelsThe older version of the Woopra WordPress Plugin allowed you to:

  • Auto-tag your commentators and members.
  • Track statistics from the WordPress Administration Panel.
  • Auto-embed the Woopra script code without having to touch your WordPress Theme template files.

We have added the following features to the newly updated version of the Woopra WordPress Plugin to integrate better with WordPress blogs:

  • Ignore administrators visits by default.
  • You can now see when a comment is posted live in the updated Woopra Application Live section on the desktop client.
  • The ability to see your blog Analytics in the WordPress Administration Panels using the API Access feature in Woopra.
  • A more standardized WordPress settings page in the Administration Panels.

Stay tuned for more improvements in the embedded analytics features of the Plugin. We are adding more accessible data through the API, and working on a generic Themed/Skin web-based analytics version to allow for more design customizations.

  6. limetouch Says:

I have just installed the plugin and it looks really good. And finally the plugin does not track traffic from logged in administrators, a job well done!

  7. Claudio Says:

    Hi,

I have tested the 1.3 version and the news are bad.

I have a site (that is not this one posted) with 1 million pages, that’s correct, 1 million pages, and Woopra doesn’t help me with that.
Cause when I activate the 1.3 plugin, my dashboard almost crash.

I have logged the queries and most of them spend about 225 seconds to finish, and that means that I could not use woopra! To bad.

I hope I have any new from you about this issue.

    Thanks.

    P.S. I’ll continue using woopra 1.0 plugin.

  8. Elie K Says:

    @Claudio:

I just checked your account, you only have the current website added to Woopra! can you explain more?

    @ Claudio:

Thanks for the input. You do know that Woopra is restricted to 10K in traffic during beta testing, right? Also, to ensure your concerns are addressed, please bring this issue up in the forums if you haven’t already. Thanks.

  16. Claudio Says:

    Hi guys,

    @Lorelle
I know that the limit is 10k on beta tests.
But my site is starting now (and i’m already have 1M pages installeds), so I believe that I could use woopra until it gests 10K visits.

When that happens , I hope I can use/pay a Woopra service that still works for me for >10K visits.

    @Elie K
The site that I have is created with another account, cause its shared with my partner.

    @All
Anyway, I hope you check it for performance on big sites.
The success can come very quickly. Be prepared cause we are on the WEB!

    Thank you all guys

  25. Shane Says:

@Benoit and @Smash: We found a huge bug this morning. We will have an update out later tonight. It will be 1.3.2. This might be the cause as I was having it myself after I changed my WordPress security settings.

  26. cwfgamecast Says:

Shane: This bug deals with the Your query returned 0 results bit? I had that too but you said it is due to my new install of the plugin. Will the update be a new version of the WP plugin or a new version of the standalone? If standalone which OS will it be for, all/some?

As an aside I’m loving the standalone. I never knew I had visits from Lebanon, India, Australia, Indonesia, Spain, and Latvia. Kind of surprised by Argentina and Costa Rica too. Pretty sweet.

  27. Lorelle VanFossen Says:

    @ Claudio:

Ah, just to clarify. Pageview means someone is on your site viewing a page. It counts as “one” pageview of traffic. Physical “pages” known as “web pages” are not counted by Woopra or other statistics packages until someone actually views that site. You can use Woopra no matter how many web pages you have on your site, and you can use Woopra with sites larger than 10K pageviews during the beta testing site. The stats just cut off at 10K. We have a select few sites with larger traffic testing Woopra.

Good luck with your new site and thanks for using Woopra.

  28. Vygantas Says:

I can’t see stats when using app. It shows 0 users for yesterday and all other days when i wasn’t logged in.

  29. Vygantas Says:

OK, can’t see yesterday stats now too, only today

  30. Lorelle VanFossen Says:

    @ Vygantas:

You have upgraded to the new version of the Plugin? And you’ve reported your findings in the Woopra Forum where all bug and troubleshooting issues are to be reported? Thanks.

  31. polle Says:

Not working correctly, just some options, others not, also images and lang folder in the plugin are missing, anyone has an older version of the plugin ?

  32. baron Says:

    hi. Thanks for plugin

    perfect.

    Regards

  33. anonymous Says:

I’m having the “Your query returned 0 results. Click here to retry again!” error just like everyone else. I really think this new plugin shouldn’t be released before it is 100% ready for everyone. (the old bare bone but working plugin is removed and cannot be downloaded anymore) I know all the new features is cool and stuff but most users wouldn’t appreciate the error message that just plagues their dashboard and most probably ends up wasting time searching the forum for solution that doesn’t exist yet. I did, and my time is wasted. :(

As some has pointed out, the en.js and woopra-loader.gif is missing from the plugin folder. All this error is just so obvious and shouldn’t be there in the first place. I believe the plugin author should really put more effort into testing your code before releasing it. At the very least, release the plugin as a beta and not a stable version so people know what to expect, as such most people wouldn’t need to deal with the plugin error unless they want to be early adopters.

  34. Lorelle VanFossen Says:

    @ anonymous:

Thank you for your feedback and I do hope you are contributing your feedback in the forums where all such feedback is monitored.

  35. Joel Says:

Nice work guys, love the plugin. The stats loading speed has improved a lot.

    Thanks :)

  41. Lorelle VanFossen Says:

    @ phototristan:

Be sure and download the newly updated version. If you are having trouble, please report it in the Woopra Forum so the development team can respond. Thanks!

  42. razvan Says:

    @ Lorelle VanFossen:

A lot of people in the forum (including me) have posted the issue with 0 results. We are well aware that this is a beta product and bugs are expected, but a reply on that issue (whatever that reply is) will reduce the frustration of the affected users. There is no need for a quick fix or any kind of solution. Just to know that you are aware and working on it is enough

  43. Lorelle VanFossen Says:

    @ razvan:

We are very aware of the issues, and working hard to fix it and track reports in the forum. Not every forum post can be responded to, as there are a lot of beta testers and only a couple of us, but we are working with little sleep to ensure these things are fixed and upgrades are underway.

Thanks for your support, patience, and understanding as we make Woopra as strong and stable as possible, from core to Plugin. :D

  44. razvan Says:

    @ Lorelle VanFossen

This is the kind of answer that i guess everybody expected. I agree that you cannot answer any post but if you make for that issue a sticky thread, perhaps there won’t be so many duplicate threads :)

  46. fabrizio azzali Says:

I have WP 2.2.1 and woopra plugin 1.3.1 installed but the only answer is

    Any idea?

  47. Lorelle VanFossen Says:

    @ fabrizio azzali:

Have you checked in the Woopra Forums? This is being discussed and resolved there.

  48. phototristan Says:

    @Lorelle

Yep, I’m using the most recent version. I get no stats in my WordPress dashboard at all.

  49. Matthew Says:

How can we or anyone else submit the one made for Joomla? All this talk about one for wordpress yet no spotlights on any that are available for Joomla

  50. Lorelle VanFossen Says:

    @ Matthew:

See the Woopra Installation Guide for a listing of several Joomla modules as well as plugins and add-ons for a variety of other platforms and systems.

Currently, the one for WordPress is the only one directly supported by the Woopra team. We hope to have more coming soon.
