Woopra 4 iPhone - Does Exactly What the Name Implies
Hubert Streitenberger put out a little app based on the WordPress plugin code, called Woopra 4 iPhone which reformats the Woopra stats specifically for the iPhone. Everyone I’ve shown it to thinks it’s cool, so we want to thank Hubert for his effort and generosity and also spread the word about it’s availability.
Hubert’s original post is available in German, but in case you can’t read it, here is the Google translation to English.
It’s very easy to install, and although I didn’t test it with any other platforms I think that this applet will run with any PHP based site - not just WordPress. Hopefully someone will give it a try and let us know.
I got it up and running as follows:
- Download and unzip the Woopra 4 iPhone installation files.
- Open the Config.php file and edit these three lines to replace your site’s URL, Site ID and API key (found in your Member’s area):
define('woopra_host','www.YOURSITE.COM');
define('woopra_api_key', 'XXXXXXXXX');
define('woopra_site_key', 'XXXXXXXXX'); - FTP the entire Woopra 4 iPhone directory to a secure location on your server. You can shorten the name of the directory if you want, and even put it in your root, but keep in mind it will not be secure unless you password protect it.
- Visit the directory you just uploaded in your iPhone!
I hope you’ll all join me in thanking Hubert not only for putting together this little app, but also for sharing it with the rest of us. He did mention that he encourages further development, so if anyone decides to turn it into a plugin or advance the code please share the results.
We do have a super-secret (well, not any more) Woopra iPhone app in the works that will be very different than this applet. Stay tuned…

What is the link to download the installation files?
October 13th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Oops. Somehow it seems that the link was messed up, but I’ve fixed it now.

Well, it certainly does what it says it does. But it’s perhaps the ugliest iPhone web app I’ve ever seen.

Great! I would like to try this one but my status is still “pending approval”…

@ cortana:
Woopra will be approving a final batch of registrations very soon, then closing approvals to concentrate on preparing Woopra for leaving beta testing.

Thanks for the link. I just installed it on my at&t Tilt (WM6 device) and it works perfectly.

This isn’t as cool as I had pictured it in my head. I hope you guys are looking into making a professional(and elegant) iPhone application.

Wow! This is the best solution to monitor the website analytics on the iPhone.! I will host the files on my new Mac server and add a http-authentication javascript for security, so the analytics page loads only after the authentication page is by-passed.
Hope to see a native app in the AppStore soon!!

Is there a symbian version of?

have to love my iphone!

@ Four20:
A Woopra-cooler version is on its way. This person just got to first base first. We’ll hit a home run, don’t worry.

Will there be a Windows Mobile version of this? It looks fantastic!
I’m running WM6.1 on an HTC Touch with VGA resolution and I bet it would look great!

It isn’t bad for analytics, but I think a real-time analytic app for the iphone is what woopra is
October 16th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
It would be great if you can get this in the app store
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:07 pm
would be cool if you guys came out with a blackberry version.
October 23rd, 2008 at 2:36 pm
this will work on any device. it is just formatted to the 480×320 screen resolution of the iphone.

I am having a hard time getting this set up, cause the members area has no website ID for my approved site. I looked at the set up instructions for the normal client, and where it says the website ID is, is blank.
November 7th, 2008 at 2:47 am
Woopra has removed the need of Website-ID. I will change the Woopra4iPhone-App in the near future.
November 12th, 2008 at 11:49 am
This would be an extremely helpful app to have on my T-Mobile G1. It wouldn’t be the worst idea to develop the application for Android, I pretty much update/monitor all my sites from that device, and having analytics all in one place would be fascinating.
November 26th, 2008 at 4:47 am
I have changed the Woopra4iPhone-App. Now the website-ID is no longer needed.

Works with S60 devices, tested with N95 8GB. Now I have statistics on the go!.

Too bad my site doesn’t use PHP…

@ Anonymous:
Does it use Javascript? Most blogs and websites are now run on PHP and Javascripts. Did you try to install Woopra manually?
And if you aren’t running a dynamic website, still using static HTML, I seriously recommend you upgrade to the modern world.

You are a star. Thank you so much for the iPhone app information and the upgrades.

Looks like a great tool, but I have a problem. I am not really good with understanding webhosting so I tend to go with big brands. I have Yahoo Webhosting and I get this error PHP-Flag ‘allow_URL_fopen’ ON! (php.ini) and because I can’t access php.ini because yahoo simply doesn’t allow that file on the server. What can I do to get around a problem like that.

@ loriabeauty:
You’ve left this note on this post, so I can only assume that it has to do with the iPhone application for Woopra. If it does, please contact them directly as Woopra does not support that application.
If the question applies to Woopra’s JavaScript, installation, or one of the Plugins, please visit our Woopra Forum for help specific to what this error involves. The file you are referring to has nothing directly to do with Woopra unless the error happened immediately after installing it.
