Woopra Now Open For Registrations – No Invite Necessary!
Hello to everyone out there in Woopra Land!
We’ve been very busy lately listening to your suggestions and taking action on them! As a result I’m pleased to tell you that, Woopra is open for free registrations. No invite necessary…for now.
In the past couple of weeks since we announced that we were coming out of beta and that our new billing system was online, we had our registrations closed down and no one was able to add sites to the system for tracking.
During that time we also had thousands of new registrations. It seems that most people were looking to give Woopra a try on the basic (free) plan first but hadn’t yet been able to add a Website to the system.
As you might imagine, this meant that the team and I have been inundated with hundreds of requests to bring back the free registrations, even though I did mention that our intention was to wait until the business was at a cash-flow break even point before adding additional free users.
After talking it over with the team, we have decided that we’re going to open up free registrations without an invitation for now. We have some spare capacity on the systems, and we’re going to be ordering more soon.
Please keep in mind that this is the first time Woopra has ever allowed unrestricted signups. We really don’t know what is going to happen, and therefore we’re reserving the right to stop new additions at any time.
If you have domains that you’ve been waiting to add to Woopra, but haven’t because of the invitation access restrictions, now is the time to act. Also, you might want to let your friends and family know that Woopra is currently available as well.
I hope this alleviates some of the pent up pressure to get those sites added. By the way, to those of you who have upgraded to one of our paid plans, thank you very much! Your support helps keep the power on all those servers in the data centers and makes all the difference in our ability to continue to bring out new features and expand our offerings.
Now, let’s roll!

PS – We do ask that you limit yourself to adding a reasonable number of sites to the system. If you need to add a large number please do us a favor and at least upgrade a few to paid plans in order to help defray the costs associated with your account.
Very nice!

Awesome! I’m on the free plan for now but I really love it. Only been using it a day and already having trouble keeping myself from peeking at it all the time. My site currently has no ads and makes no money (it’s really low traffic) but I’m hoping to ad some ads in the next couple months and a paid Woopra account is the first thing on my list.

GREAT news! I needed that…bad.
Also.. let me ask;
If we have a number of sites, will it reduce the “expense” on your end if we do not auto-connect them each time we load Woopra? I have a number of sites but it’s not important for me to see live traffic at all times.
What can I/we all do to leverage your generosity while reducing the load on your end?

Medx,
Actually you raise a good point. Each time you have a site auto-connecting it is opening a live connection to a server, so generally speaking it’s easier on the infrastructure if they are not all connected all the time.
But keep in mind that if you have event notifications turned on the only way you are going to get them is if you are connected. So don’t disable it if its going to impact your ability to use the service! But personally I normally only auto-launch 2 of my sites also to save bandwidth on my end.
Cheers,
John P.
Thanks much, I will announce that in my blog.

OK John.. thanks. All of my sites are low traffic now. I only use the basic monitoring features of Woopra for now. And that’s plenty to give me insight for me at the moment.
I’m anxious for the time when they will be higher traffic so I can upgrade with you. Will gladly do so when the time comes.
Glad I now know how to keep the load light on your servers. I’m the same as you. I launch only two at this point. Will track others as needed.
Talk to you later

I love Woopra and I want to upgrade to a paid plan. Please consider PayPal payments as soon as possible.
Thanks for that! From my next clients I will charge an extra for a year of Woopra paid plan.
It’s really worthy.
Congratulations for the great work and thanks for keeping in touch with us, beta testers.
I’m also following medxcentral (Jim) idea about disconnecting the sites with low traffic, very nice.

I say keep it invitation only
I get that you guys need more paying ppl then free ppl to pay the bills
so in my book I say keep it “invitation only.”
but what I would like from woopra is for you to do what you toled me you were going to do
& thats was you were going to give us a way to turn off the idle time out
now I had to edit one of my php file for the plugin
& have to host the static.woopra.com/js/woopra.js file on my website for thats the only way I can turn off the idle time out
I feel if you going to say something your going to do & then dont do it.
that bs come on I DO NOT WANT IDLE TIME OUT IN ANY WAY WHAT SOO EVER!!!!!!!!
As has been explained on the blog and in the forums, while there are ways with the Woopra WordPress Plugin and the JavaScript to set your timeouts, we’re still researching what this really means and how to incorporate it into your Member Settings and in the Woopra Desktop Client. Some people want this information, and others don’t. Some want to know that their site is open for weeks at a time in a browser, but others don’t. We want it to be a flexible and personal choice, so stay tuned for news on this.
We have a huge list of feature requests and we’re listening to everyone’s input, working hard to make Woopra the best real-time analytics program we can. And don’t worry. The open access for Woopra will probably be very short. :D
Guys you rock! With every new blog post you come out with new goodies for your users! First it’s SSL support for all plans, now it’s free registrations… Thanks a lot and please don’t listen to the (very few) haters! ;-)
P.S. Maybe you should get a nice comparison graphic like clicky has it, or some other chart to convince the more rational users. I think with your feature rich service it would be very compelling :-D
