The .CO Domain Name Rush is ON! We’ve got GoDaddy Coupon Codes to Help Out…
Hey folks, if you weren’t aware yet, the .CO domain names have now been released and people are registering them like crazy!
I would highly recommend that you go and at the very least pick up your primary domain name with a .CO address before someone else grabs it to take advantage of your visitors who forget the M on your .COM address (can you say “domain squatting”?).
Everyone I know uses GoDaddy (so do we) so head on over to GoDaddy now and get your domain. There are also still a LOT of other great names up for grabs so if you’ve been wanting one for a while and all the .COMs were taken you might invest a little time and money in a few choice names for later use.
Here are some Coupon Codes you can use when its time to checkout:
- IAPt3 = 10% off
- IAPtfif1 = 15% off $75
- IAPtft1 = $5 off $30
- IAPtdom1 = $7.49 .com
- IAPth1 = 20% off hosting
Good luck with your domain hunt! Don’t forget we also have discount codes for other GoDaddy domains and more. And tweet me to @johnpoz if you get anything awesome! I’d love to hear about it!
John,
My chain of events today were to call GoDaddy and ask a technical question that I’ve been meaning to check off, while on hold I learn about .CO, then I’m on Woopra’s site to evaluate for a client project and I’m back to square 2 with .CO domains.
It is interesting in that it opens up some possibilities that were out of reach before. I know Google won’t treat these premium names like .INFO unless people abuse but I am really worried about people typing the .COM with the final M by habit and ending up on a parked domain.
Any thoughts? What are you considering using them for?
Derick,
You’re right. It’s a little unsettling to think that you might get something like CoolDomain.CO and then people will be constantly typing in CoolDomain.COM out of habit. My thoughts about the domains are kind of as follows:
– If you have a .COM you need to grab your .CO so that the opposite doesn’t happen. People typing too fast leave off the M and it no longer throws an error, instead it goes to a fishing site or a parked site.
– If you can get a cool name that incorporates the .CO then you have a lot less liklihood that it will be confused. For example, I registered PhotoLo.co. Because I love photography and I thought that I might make a photo website with it later.
– If you can get a .CO domain that has really excellent keywords in it, you can use it just for a keyword optimized site designed to grab search traffic. I got a couple that might be used for things like hosting referrals or coupons.
So, yes, there are some potential drawbacks, but I think these domains also show a lot of potential!
Cheers,
John P.
Aren’t we lucky that we don’t live and die by Google. :D According to Mashable and our research, .co is going to be treated no differently than .com. Just a shorter version. Go get yours NOW! These are great savings.
I checked at Godaddy and the .co domains are three times the cost of .com domains, about $30/year without the discount. Geez. Why are they so expensive?
I thought the same thing, but it’s the “newness” of it. Be the first, pay more. Which is why this discount is such a good deal. It brings the price down to something more affordable for those who want to be among the first.
Looking forward to the upcoming .go (from google) domain name extension. Sometimes in 2014.
I bought 6 .co domain names on opening day and 2 more since then. I still haven’t decided on what type of sites I will build for them.
