Web Analytics Book Reviews

Monday, April 21st, 2008

As I prepare to dive more into web analtyics, I’ve ordered four books that I will be studying and reviewing. Here they are, with some of my insights before I read them. As a professional blogger and web publisher, I’m eager to see how these books apply to my real world of blogging.

Of the top four books I found on web analytics on Amazon.com, only one appears to service bloggers specifically. The others are designed towards business owners and managers, with heavy emphasis on the corporate market. The world is changing and corporate marketing think is evolving greatly, so I’ll be interested in reading their perceptions and see if it lines up with reality on the ground with Web 2.0.

will be changing the way we look at the numbers on our blogs and websites, so I’m eager to learn about how we evaluated web metrics in the past, and looking forward to watching them change in the future with new, more powerful analytical tools.

Welcome to Woopra

Dear Woopra-ers? Wooprites? What are we going to call ourselves?

Anyway, on behalf of Elie Khoury, Jad Younan, myself, and the rest of the Woopra team I’d like to welcome you all to our little community! After what was intended to be a small, private beta release to 200 people at WordCamp Dallas, we’ve been experiencing extremely high demand, and are working as fast as possible to turn up capacity in order to ensure we can get an invitation to everyone.

In addition to working on the Woopra application and infrastructure, we’re finding new ways to communicate with all of you and we truly hope that you’ll take the time to talk back to us. The launch of the new Woopra Blog is an important milestone because we’ve been unable to keep up with the huge number of incoming e-mails. As a result, when we notice trends on the inbound e-mail we’ll put out notifications with updates via the blog, so please take a moment and subscribe for updates.

Equally important however, are the launch of the new Woopra Forums! Our hope is that the forums will help everyone with installation, troubleshooting, and feature requests. We’ll be manning the forums as much as possible, but we sure would appreciate it if everyone could pitch in and help us answer questions for newbies once in a while. We are really dependent on the community to step in and help us out a bit in this area.

Once again, the entire Woopra team is very excited, and we’re working around the clock to make sure we don’t waste a moment of time getting the service out to everyone who wants it! Please drop us a line with comments and encouragement. Since we’re not getting much sleep, we could use it! :-)
