This week, let's talk about how you turn those numbers into decisions.

Last week's Woopra Weekly was What do the numbers mean to you?, which asked a similar question but now we want to take it a step further.

We use statistics to make decisions. Which statistics we choose influences our decisions. I want to know which statistics you monitor and how you use them to make your decisions, turning numbers into options and those options into actions.

Each week, we will be offering a Woopra Weekly topic for discussion here in the Woopra Forums. The only rule is play nice.

Many thanks to Woopra - I am a newbie web designer and already I am finding good uses for this application (yes, as in a Mac owner which looks great with this stunning GUI) and having fun. I hope it will help into the future as I step up my game, but hope it's not too expensive when the time comes.
And by the way I was approved in a week, which is not bad for such a freebie is it?

Okay,

So I've been using Woopra since the beginning.

In fact, I actually completely stopped using Google Analytics in favor of Woopra.

Well today I read an article that said google analytics damages your search engine rankings... so I decided to remove it.

Before I did, I looked at the analytics just for kicks... and discovered that the difference between GA and Woopra are insane.

Google registered roughly double the visits/pageviews/unique visitors that Woopra did.

The tracking on the search engine results shows COMPLETELY different stuff.

Search engine terms woopra was tracking: 226

Search engine terms google picked up: 654

Now, if I look at the traffic by referrer, the ranks all stay the same, but google of course tracked A TON more visitors for each.

So... there is a HUGE portion of people visiting my site that Woopra is not tracking but google does.

What gives?

Hello There,

I was just wondering if there is any sort of "guide" for the approval time on new accounts?

I have had a look through the site and can see a "mass approval" happened some time ago but currently cannot locate any further info about the current "pending approval" accounts.

I signed up today and hadn't realised it was still an approval based system (which made me sad! :) But I can understand why of course) . I am extremely excited about Woopra and am very much looking forward to using it.

Hi

Nice update and nice to see that you've started to include querystring values ("URL parameters"). One issue though; for my sites I'm using the querystring to pass around values (page id, page #, titles, etc), I do not however prefix these values with a parameter id. As such, Woopra still only functions as a glorified page-view counter (iow; all views are listed under the latest viewed title)...

A simple fix for this problem would be the possibility to include the complete querystring in the "URL Query Parameters" option. Might even have an option that says to treat the querystring as a document identifier...

I was just testing click to chat and I noticed that the pop up box has a white square in it. I assume that this square is to be replaced with an image? Either a generic image of an operator, or the option of an image of the person requesting the chat. Am I right here? and if so, where does one go to upload/input the image?

I have noticed issues with Google Chrome not holding the connection. Has anyone noticed that? The chat is working well for me with Firefox and IE. I do have to tell people to click the message and hold CTRL if they have a pop-up blocker, because Pop-Up blockers got me initially.

Google Chrome is showing the initial message and then the connection times out. Now that I mention Pop Ups, I am wondering if I had the person helping me disable Pop Up. I have been doing that, and the same person verified chat in IE 7 and Fire Fox 3, so there appears to be an ssues with Google Chrome. I will play some more and follow up.

Is anybody else having issues with the Google Chrome browser? --Thanks, Joe (ncfusion)

I had problems with the times displayed on my Woopra software. They were off 8 hrs from what they should have been.

After the recent upgrade, I signed into my Woopra online account and changed the time from -4 to -8. I then waited 15 minutes and reset it back to -4. It seems like I got the system to rest itself, because now it displays the correct -4 time.

If anyone else is going through this, try to change the time and then return to what it is supposed to be and see if it resets correctly like mine did.

Has anyone used the function that let's you chat with your visitors? How did they react? I have to admit I might be a little freaked if a wenmaster popped up when I was at their site. I mean I know as well as anyone that unless I take measures, there's no privacy in my web browsing. However, having it made so plain that I'm being observed in real time makes the point a little too blatantly.

Hello

Just joined and wanted to say hello.

I have spent the best part of the last 7 months
trying to get an Omniture site catalyst installation
to show the things we were promised at inception
...but without luck. Because we were a banner traffic
co. I wanted to be able to track site path,
page value and customer LTV by traffic source.

It was promissed, but just never came to pass.
As the business lead, I ended up learning how
it worked technically out of frustration. A
wonderful growing experience but not very fulfilling.
When I began to call the customer help desk to
get some enlightenment to our most trying problems,
I discovered why my programmers where having such a
hard time....the help desk often knew less than we did. :(

Their answer to our problem of an incompletely installed
system was to offer a high cost external consulting
company introduction.

Now sadly I am moving on (with hesitation)...hoping to find
an analytics system like the one I was originally looking for.

I am very encouraged by what is shaping up here (already virtually real time stats, site path and soon cloud server architecture) and hope to be accepted in the next batch round.

Hey Woopra Peeps -

Are any of you still having trouble with time being an hour off or so? I have -5 as my time zone for EST in my Woopra account but the stats are still off by an hour (early).

How can this be resolved? Thanks in Advance. - Jason

This is towards John...
I am designing Woopra loyalty badges so that all of us who are running Woopra can tell the world that our stats are powered by it. Well John I don't know your email address (and I don't want to bother you by using the contact form) but it would really help me to design some badges if you could send the font and design of your Woopra logo via email, (think you can get it by looking at my profile), any format which could be opened in my PhotoShop CS3 would be fine.
Thanks.

Does Woopra compensate for the time of day when displaying stats in the ticker? I was thinking about this the other day... For example if it's 9am I tend to notice that ALL my metrics are down big time when compared to the previous daily averages but by the end of the day, it evens out... This tells me that Woopra may not be compensating for the "percentage complete" of that time of the day. Of course our trend will be down at 9am for today's stats since the day has only just begun.

If Woopra is not compensating for this, it makes that ticker pretty much useless. Is this the case or am I off my rocker? Wouldn't be the first time. ;)

Does that make sense?

Why is there no information that one needs invitation code before the service could be used BEFORE I proceed to sign up? This is deliberately misleading on your part. Correct me if I am wrong.
