I am playing with Woopra client (version 1.2) on my Linux box (Ubuntu 8.04) and I spotted that Woopra saves its configuration files into the ~/Woopra folder (where ~ is the home folder). What's wrong with that? It's a common Unix practice to save configuration files into the hidden folders (in this case that would be ~/.Woopra) - or better - into the ~/.config/ folder. Creating visible folder right in the home folder is really annonying (especially if you are trying to keep it tidy).
Isn't there any hidden parameter for Woopra launcher to change its config folder or is there at least chance for fix of this issue in the future versions?
Thanks.

Ok, there is something seriously wrong with woopra for linux. I just started up my win2k3 server in a virtualbox and with tons of server software running, and woopra running smooth as hell, my cpu usage never maxes over 50% while running at only 800mhz (prev it was 2000mhz and stayed at 80% and higher the whole time), sometimes hitting 10-20%. This is an acceptable temporary solution for me seeing as after using woopra I cannot go back to something else, but im begging you guys, please get the linux version working this good!!

Extremely slow while drawing the screen (if it was minimized or behind another window) and my cpu (running at the full 2000mhz) stays at 80-90% while its running (even if in taskbar). Closing it takes me back to 2-10% cpu.as a result i can use it to check stats but cannot leave it open for live viewing. I keep checking back hoping to find a new version but I dont see version numbers listed on the site...

I am running Ubuntu Hardy Heron and had no problems installing Woopra on my computer. I just downloaded the woopra_unix.sh bin file and installed it. After my website was approved, I could use Woopra immediately. I know this is no help for all you out there who have problems installing and/or running the software, but I wanted to let you know that it IS possible to run the Linux version on Hardy Heron.

i had the same problem (only) with the newest linux client on my desktop (ubuntu 8.04) - on my laptop (same ubuntu) everything works, just slow under linux..

now i use wine to start woopra (win) on my desktop and it works like a charm, in the end it is faster than the linux version on my notebook. It is sure not the final cut but a (stupid) workaround (for me..) because i could not fix this tray bug with ubuntu and woopra linux client..and java, of course.

looking forward to the next woopra release ;)

This is more a feature request than a support request.

Would it be possible to include RPM/DEB packages for Woopra? This way users can keep track of the software from 'yum' or 'apt-get'. Maybe create a tar.gz file with the binaries so other users can help create and maintain Woopra in their repositories. This way users can add woopra easily to their systems with a simple 'yum install woopra' command or 'apt-get install woopra'.

Just a suggestion

I just want to extend my thanks to the Woopra team for supporting (or at least providing) a Linux version of your software. It's so rare that companies provide software for Linux and I just wanted to say thanks.

I do have one way you can help make Woopra more "Linux-y". Most Linux commands are lowercase and Linux users have grown accustom to typing is lowercase to <TAB> to their programs on the command line. My suggestion is to rename the executable from 'Woopra' to 'woopra'.

So once again thanks!

Become root and execute these commands

cd /usr/local/Woopra

sh ./uninstall (you must be root, otherwise you get a permission denied error)

We're looking for someone familiar with Unix to help you out. Thanks for using an uncommon system to test Woopra. Your feedback will really help.

Hmm, I really don't get it, I can not find it in synaptic or similar, I installed Woopra with the woopra_unix.sh.
