I believe we should use cURL! I'll prioritize that on my todo list. Thank you

domanou,
It depends on your hosting service and it may be a security risk to change things in the PHP settings.

Here is a discussion of this type of issue over at the Dreamhost Wiki:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Talk:Allow_url_fopen

Elie, do you have any comment on whether this plugin could be improved to use cURL instead of fopen()? Notice that the link I provided above contains a wrapper class to use cURL for this purpose.

I have the same problem than Raymer.

I think depending on different PHP and server versions, your .htaccess may need
php_flag allow_url_fopen on
or
php_flag allow_url_fopen 1
or
php_flag allow_url_fopen true

However it is also possible that modifying php values by .htaccess is not allowed on your server. Glad you got it fixed - just adding this for anyone else who may be looking for a fix.

Hi,

This worked for me too. Unfortunately, the .htaccess trick didn't work and so like Steve, I had to modify the php.ini file. That fixed it. Thank you Elie and Ray!

I too have a solution thanks to Elie.

The Woopra script may be a bit unique, as it requires that the fopen setting in your php.ini configuration file be ON.

Remember that the Woopra script needs to be able to grab the data from the Woopra server, that requires that your server have the ability to make a http request to another Web server.

My solution was to turn on the setting in the PHP ini file, and restart the Web server.

I do not know if this setting has any security concerns associated with it.

RESOLVED!
Guys, the new 1.3.7 plugin shows an error message that indicated the server was blocking connections. Apparently the woopra plugin requires furl() support.

adding:

php_flag allow_url_fopen on

to my .htaccess file fixed the issue for me. My other site already had this which is why it worked on the same server.

Elie went above the call of duty by chatting with me to resolve this - I am now, once again, a loyal Woopra user :-)

Regards,
Ray

P.S. This requirement should be added to the FAQ or docs.

Elie K,
Please understand that I have done everything in my power to give details about my problem. I have also been careful to explain to the ones who post about non-related issues that we need to focus on this problem! I am not talking about the woopra website analytics page. So when you say "if it doesn't work let me know" it's a bit frustrating at this point, to say the least.

When I said that the update did not resolve my issue I meant it. I have the right API key. The stand-alone client works. But as I repeated several times, the stats do not show up in my wordpress admin console!!! Please take a moment and read my posts in this thread. I gave many specifics, including version info and my URLS for working and non-working sites. If you need more you can email me at ray AT raymercer DOT net

plugin v 1.3.6 DOES NOT RESOLVE THIS ISSUE

@Elie K
As I mentioned within the last day or so, the WP plug in is showing no data in the WP admin. I AM getting data in the desktop client.

I am running version 1.3.6 of the Woopra plugin and WP version 2.6.2.

So, do you need anything else to help start the "fix it together" process?

Hi,

Just to confirm, the Wordpress plugin is *NOT* providing stats in Wordpress for me. The desktop Java applet is working fine and so I can confirm that the data is being captured. I am running WP 2.6.2 and the latest plugin (1.3.6). I continue to see "Your Query Returned 0 Results" when I try to access stats from the plugin. I just reconfirmed that the proper API key and site ID are in place. (The correct information was already there.) I am not sure what else to do. Do you need any additional information to help in troubleshooting? Email or reply to this post.

Thank you.

Domanou, are you getting no results in the woopra stand-alone client software? If so, this is a different issue. This thread is specific to not seeing and results in the wordpress admin console | woopra analytics tab.

Evert, the analytics page on the woopra website is currently down. What you are seeing there is the expected behavior. See this thread for details:
Please refer to the Woopra application or Woopra WordPress Plugin as we work to make Woopra even better'

Elie K,
I understand that this product is in beta, but for you to announce that all problems that we are having are solved and marking this thread as resolved without actually checking with the OP or other users that are having this same issue concerns me.

I hope that will not be Woopra's SOP in the future.

At this point, Woopra seems to be a "cool thing" that works for some people but not for others. With the outages, it's not something that I would depend on for a primary solution yet and that is fine with me.

But again, to pronounce the issue resolved without checking with your beta testers that have reported the problem - and asked if we can provide more information to help you - leaves much to be desired,

Dear Elie K,
I am the OP on this thread. I just updated the plugin to 1.3.6 on my site http://www.ygbc.org. The behaviour has not changed with the new version. None of the stats show in the admin console under Wordpress 2.5.1 however they show fine on my other site http://www.yokosukachurch.com which is hosted on the same server and uses the same version of wp, etc.

I am changing the thread from resolved to "not resolved" please let me know if you need more details about my setup. Many, many people are waiting to see a reliable plugin for wordpress! I have 5 sites waiting for it myself - only one of them works. Wish someone could tell me why...

Regards,

The update did not solve the problem for me either. I updated the plugin in the dashboard. I still get the query returned zero results even with the new plugin. A bit of clarification, I am running wordpress 2.6.2 and woopra plugin version 1.3.6.

The update did not solve the issue for me. Same exact problem. Does anything else need to be done other than updating the plugin? I just did the automatic upgrade within the dashboard.

Hi !

I've installed the Woopra plugin on my wordpress blog, I have my Woopra ID and API and the plugin seems to work.
But I've got this error message in top of my blog :
"Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/mnt/102/sdb/c/4/nicolinux87/sessions/sess_106fd305038d9ec2005ce0f0fa65af0d, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /mnt/102/sdb/c/4/nicolinux87/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/woopra/woopra.php on line 16".
I'd like to know if I could get rid of it...

I use the latest versions of Wordpress (2.6.2) and Woopra (1.3.6).
Thank you very much for your answers...
Nicolinux

Yes. Lorelle, is there any other info or help we can provide? It has been a couple of weeks since you said you were investigating this. I would really love to see the stats in the wordpress admin page start working.
