I've modified and optimized the WordPress-Plugin for iPhone, so you can put the Code on a Web-Server standalone and easy watch with Safari the statistic. Look here: Woopra 4 iPhone, http://blog.streitenberger.net/2008/10/woopra-4-iphone.html (german, but english documentation is in the zip-file). I hope it helps you!

@mivox:

Hi again,

So far my Woopra experience it THE BEST!!
This is everything I wanted and more!
Just one thing:
In my stats there are 60 visitors so far but on the MAP they still do not appear.
Only when I see a live visitor, but once that one is gone, there is nothing on the live-map or on the stats map.... can anyone help?

I have the wordpress plugin v. 1.3.7 on WordPress 2.6.2 ... and Mac Desktop v. 1.2b on OS X 10.5.5

In short, nothing is working. The Woopra plugin was previously giving the "0 results" message, and after I updated it today, I'm now getting the red bar with the "Your hosting provider is not allowing the Woopra Plugin to fetch data from the Woopra Servers." message.

My desktop software is still reporting 0 results.

I first installed the plugin and software over a week ago, and have not actually seen any stats reported at all ... but today was the first time I've had time to really double-check everything, and I haven't been able to get anything working.

I've double-checked my WP footer.php template to make sure it has the required line of php code, double-checked that my website ID and API key are entered correctly. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what else to do.

domanou,
It depends on your hosting service and it may be a security risk to change things in the PHP settings.

Here is a discussion of this type of issue over at the Dreamhost Wiki:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Talk:Allow_url_fopen

Elie, do you have any comment on whether this plugin could be improved to use cURL instead of fopen()? Notice that the link I provided above contains a wrapper class to use cURL for this purpose.

One of my sites, which runs the WP plugin (v 1.3.7) won't track external links or downloads, eg PDF.

I had thought it was outdated plugin or that the PDFs were stored on a different domain, so I upgraded and brought the PDFs back onto the main domain, but still no tracking.

I think depending on different PHP and server versions, your .htaccess may need
php_flag allow_url_fopen on
or
php_flag allow_url_fopen 1
or
php_flag allow_url_fopen true

However it is also possible that modifying php values by .htaccess is not allowed on your server. Glad you got it fixed - just adding this for anyone else who may be looking for a fix.

That's on the todo list! but it might require time because there are some more important things that we are implementing at the moment.

Hi,

This worked for me too. Unfortunately, the .htaccess trick didn't work and so like Steve, I had to modify the php.ini file. That fixed it. Thank you Elie and Ray!

I too have a solution thanks to Elie.

The Woopra script may be a bit unique, as it requires that the fopen setting in your php.ini configuration file be ON.

Remember that the Woopra script needs to be able to grab the data from the Woopra server, that requires that your server have the ability to make a http request to another Web server.

My solution was to turn on the setting in the PHP ini file, and restart the Web server.

I do not know if this setting has any security concerns associated with it.

I have it on Wordpress and static pages working together at the same time.

If you want to look at the code, view source on
http://www.virtualbirdseye.com/map/map.htm

you can see how I put the code in there. I also have google tracker under Woopra during the beta testing just in case :)
