My current plan is to tag all my loyal visitors and watch what they tend to do on the site, and to optimise those features.

I am also interested to see the sources for new visitors, which make up quite a percentage of my visitors still...

Wonderful. But how sad? I think it's exciting to see the action LIVE right on the screen. And I love that you are testing your traffic to really get the facts and not the assumptions out of it.

If a fairly important site (in the world of the interweb) picks up one of my blog posts I notice immediately as my Woopra event alert starts bonging like mad!
This has helped me test what subjects are most popular in terms of attracting external traffic, and which of those sites generate me the most visitors and thus which to target with my news submissions.

I also run Google Analytics but while that info tells me which sites sent me how much traffic, there's nothing like seeing it live to appreciate the effect a good site like Digg can have.

Also quite thrilling in a sad sort of way...

The most important thing the numbers(stats) can do, for instance in my online dicitonary website(DefineItFast.com), is by giving me the number of people who are actually searching a specific word repeatedly that will help me to add it to the cloud tag(adding it manually) that would be helpful for new users of the website to instantly familiarize themselves in the word that has been repeatedly searched by numbers of people. :) In that way, I will be able to broaden their vocabulary. Simple numbers can make a big difference in the websites usability. :)

I try to monitor how long time people spend on pages. Spending less than 10 sec on a long page.. Makes me wonder what is wrong with that page.

This week, let's talk about how you turn those numbers into decisions.

Last week's Woopra Weekly was What do the numbers mean to you?, which asked a similar question but now we want to take it a step further.

We use statistics to make decisions. Which statistics we choose influences our decisions. I want to know which statistics you monitor and how you use them to make your decisions, turning numbers into options and those options into actions.

Each week, we will be offering a Woopra Weekly topic for discussion here in the Woopra Forums. The only rule is play nice.
