I have had a chance (just one) to look at the new Woopra client, but since opening, all I get is a blank window. If I move another window over the Woopra window, the blue background appears, but nothing else. I have let it sit for 15 minutes with no luck. Anyone else having this issue??

I had the same issue with the new woopra client not opening, I fixed it by uninstalling my old version.

    Found it!!

  • Hey guys, I think I might have found the solution to this problem.

Open the FINDER and when you look under your personal user name you'll see a Woopra folder. Try deleting this folder in addition to uninstalling the old version of Woopra (from your Applications folder) and see if that doesn't clear up the problem.

I was having to try and launch Woopra 2-4 times in order to get it to launch before deleting the old Woopra cached files, but after deleting them it seems to be working like a charm.

  • I second John P.'s comment. Did that and WHAM it was fine.

Works for me as well!! Just a heads up for those who haven't done this yet, you will have to reneter your username and password.

New Issue - I am monitoring 5 sites with Woopra, and one of them suddenly lost it's name on the sidebar when you click on the home button. It is on the top area, but is gone on the side. Any ideas??

One more thing, is anyone having issues opening the client with Firefox running?? Using FF 3.0.7.

    Posted 1 year ago #
  • zeebe, I have FF 3.0.7 and Woopra up right now, no issues.

As for the lost name, does the tab have a name, or just the URL?

    Posted 1 year ago #
  • The tabs "run off" the screen if the width is too narrow. Try widening the window to see if the tab comes "back" and is visible.

Also check the home panel to ensure that you are connected to that site and not disconnected.

    Thanks, Jorja Fox: Online!

  • I like testing things :) (Jorja Fox: Online was too long, so I'm using my shortname now, dang it!)

If I change my tab name, when I go back into Woopra, it doesn't save correctly!

    Reproduced by:
    Login to Woopra
    Rename site to 'Foobar'
Sign off and then sign back on
    Site is now named 'Foob'
If I blank the name out (to reset it to domain.xxx) then it's all messed up

It looks like the name isn't being saved right. It's really unpredictable in how it gets goobered, but goobered it is!

  • Ah, good catch. It appears to only hold about 4-5 characters. Use more and it "gobbers" it upon reopening the program. Thanks. I'll add that one to the list of things to fix!

And thanks for shortening your own online name, too. I'm a fan, but really. ;-) LOL

  • *snicker* It was called 'Make a user name without thinking' ;)

As a generic suggestion, it would be nice if there were links on the 'Webmaster Tools' tab for Alexa Rankings and Google Pagerank, so newbies could easily go 'Gee my page rank is an 8, but what does that MEAN?' I know it's a little outside the purview of Woopra, but you're offering a tool and some people are going to need to know why. (Yes, the odds of someone installing Woopra without knowing that stuff is small, but as you grow, it may come up).

The name is in the tab area, not the home area. Have not changed it anywhere.

Still having issues with the client opening to a grey screen, nothing. Happens mostly when I have Firefox open first. I have tried everything listed above.
Also still missing the name of one of my sites. Not sure how it is missing. It shows correctly in the tabs, but if I click on the home area, it is blank, just the number of users visiting that site.
Thanks for all of the help so far!

  • zeebee, there should be a folder called 'woopra' in your home directory. Try deleting that before opening Woopra? I know you already did it, but if something got corrupted, a reset like that may help.

I did that and it work fine again, we will see what happens as the day goes on.

I do have a request for the developer. The Woopra folder would probably be better off in the Application Support folder under the UserName/Library/Application Support. Most developers put it there (unless there is a specific reason you put it where it has to go), just my 2ยข. Love the product and the update!

Thanks for all of the help JFO!!

EDIT - I fixed my name problem by reading this forum article here:
    http://www.woopra.com/forums/topic/tips-site-name-and-style-color
I must have deleted it somehow, even though the tab kept the name. Weird!

  • Thank you all for helping each other. Just want to remind you and others to update Java to ensure you are on the latest version. That might be the answer to some of these issues.

  • Zeebe,

Elie is relocating the user folder to the appropriate place in the next RC build, so we will see it move per your suggestion.

  • Lorelle - For the record, I'm on Java SE 6 (64bit), though as with all Leopardy Macs, I've got 1.4.2 and 5.0 (both 32 and 64).

My roommate is watching the keywords light up as people visit my site. It's really cool!

  • Suggestion: Make text selectable in the live view. I had someone hit up my site with 70+ pageviews in WAY too short a time to read them, and I wanted to look into his IP. Couldn't copy/paste it!

  • I reproduced zeebe's error! I'm not sure how I did it, though, but I had Firefox open to a bevy of pages, one of which was a Flash based game, and when I opened Woopra, I got the White Screen of Doooom. For Quit and killed the woopra folder in my home directory and it was fine.

    Posted 12 months ago #
  • I'm trying to understand. You had the Woopra Member Area page open in your browser or you were running the Woopra Client? To quit it, you ended the process in the program/task manager to force the Woopra desktop client to stop running completely on your computer and then restarted Woopra and it was okay. And all of this was triggered by a browser/Flash web app game?

Flash and Woopra rely heavily upon the graphics driver and functions, but I've not seen any reports about conflicts between Java and Flash.

Anyone else able to recreate this issue? Thanks, JFO, for continuing to help us track these things down and recreate them, though I'm sure you didn't plan to in this case. :D

  • I had FF open, I went to open Woopra the application (set to auto login), Woopra hung with a white screen of nothing that required a force-quit AND a cleaning of the ~/woopra folder to correct.

The ONLY difference between that incident and the rest of the time I was using Woopra is that I had FF open to mechquest (because I like to make things go BOOM sometimes).

    Posted 12 months ago #
  • Interesting. Java just released an update. Did you update automatically or on purpose? Wonder if it was Java that conflicted with mechquest or Woopra itself. What version of Java are you on?

    Posted 12 months ago #
  • I updated Java ... I want to say two weeks ago? I'm on 1.6.0_12 on my Mac and I did it on purpose. I haven't had any other Java wackiness, but I don't run a whole lot of Java apps off the Mac side of things.

anybody knows how to collapse the data in search view like it appeared in the previous version?
i can do it one by one, by clicking on the number of actions but isn't there a simpler way?

    Posted 11 months ago #
  • The new Forward and Back moves you from search to search. Is that what you mean? Are you looking for a reset button on the Search panel?

    hello lorelle,
no no, i mean in the previous version in the search view i had to click on "x actions" to expand and see the actions of each visitor, now they are expanded by default and i have to click on "x actions" to collapse them, but every time i search they are expanded again.
is there a way to collapse all data in one click?

    Posted 11 months ago #
  • Do you mean in the Live tab? When you type in the search form at the top a search element or click within the left panel to narrow the results on the right panel? To reset the results, you click the X in the upper right corner of the search form area? Is that what you are talking about?

Not on the Search Panel but on the Live Panel, right?

I'm a bit confused over where you are describing. If it is the Live Panel, there is no expanding and collapsing. The data is there or filtered down to the specific filter/search requirements. To reset it back to the full live list, you click the X.

Am I on the right track?

no, i mean the search panel, not the live panel.
