Bandwidth Questions

Hi all, I just registered, and understand there is waiting time and such limits for beta, but I was wondering if anyone is using Woopra on a satellite internet connection. Unfortunately the best internet access I can get is WildBlue. They have very restrictive bandwidth limits which makes for daily monitoring of my usage. Should I expect monitoring data to chew through my limits?

Also satellite has horrible latency issues. Will there be problems there?

As an Admin for several (20+) blogs this tool will be an amazing way to fulfill my extremely large need for stats. Regardless I can't wait to try things out. Even if it means doing more work from coffee shops with free wifi.

I can't wait for the service to be 100% live. I just hope the pricing structure is affordable.

I have been using it for several months now and it doesn't seem to consume that much of bandwidth. I am not sure about the latency issues so I cant help you with that.

Believe me you'll love it even more when you use its, its just one of a kind technology, you'll have an amazing feeling when you see your users live, its like the sky has opened :) not exaggerating.

I know that the waiting time can be annoying but its to the benefit of the users to ensure stability and an enjoyable performance of the program for all users. so its just a matter of time.

I feel all users and fans are obliged to support and motivate Woopra for their amazing invention.

    Hope you get accepted soon.

    Regards

Thanks for the info. I can tell the wait is worth it. As long as I can afford the service when that time comes.

  • Amer is right. Woopra consumes very little bandwidth, but your feedback from monitoring your bandwidth with Woopra compared to the past six months a year will give us valuable input. The rewriting of the server code streamlined things every more, so expect a dramatic change in the next few weeks.

The bandwidth issue is not as simple as many think. There is the bandwidth consumed by Woopra on your site as it tracks the statistics. This is minimal with innovative script the team has developed. These are the server loads, which have been found to be very small.

The bandwidth issues a visitor experiences when browsing your site relates to the server and browser, as well as their IP and so far, reports continue to tell us that Woopra's load is much smaller than Google Analytics.

The bandwidth issues that come via your IP by using the desktop client version of Woopra installed on your computer are still being studied, so your feedback is very welcome.

    Thanks!

Thanks Lorelle, My biggest concern is about running the desktop client. I'm constantly checking with my ISP, and using various bandwidth monitors to ensure I don't exceed their FAP. I can't wait to be accepted into the program so I can see if it will affect my usage significantly.

As for the server loads and visitor issues I'm not as concerned. Good clean site design, and reliable servers should keep pageloads quick.

If the Woopra team is looking for any info about how well the client works over a Satellite ISP please let me know I'd be glad to share my findings.

  • I'm also currently on a very restricted satellite Internet access and we monitor it like hawks as sometimes it goes over even though we are all off line. We can't figure it out and they gouge us every chance they get...so I'm with you. So far, in several months of having Woopra run full time, we haven't had a single overage on our satellite system - which is odd because we had one or two a month in the six months leading up to me starting Woopra. :D

In a couple weeks I'm moving, and will have dedicated Internet access (I hope) so your feedback will become even more important as mine will be off the satellite. Thank you so much for helping us out with this.
