This sounds like a great feature but somehow I missed a how-to on using it. I don't see how I can initiate a chat with someone unless they have a chat client on their side. Would they have to register at Woopra?

    How does it all work?

  • The visitor on your site needs to do nothing more than click the acceptance to begin a chat with you on your site. It's that easy. We'll be improving that feature a lot over the next few months, so stay tuned for more information on the live chat.

Is there no "Chat" button we can add to our websites to allow visitors to iniate the chat from their side?

You can add an event notification, so when someone lick to your "live support" page you will be notified and can respond.. Would be nice to have a woopra "live chat" button though

Thansk Randy. Do you have an example of a "live support" page that you or someone else has used/uses? Just to give me an idea as to what to make it "look" like?

You can have the user trigger the javascript event "_InitChat()" to start a chat with you, but its not very practical unless you plan to have someone on woopra 24/7 or if you will take the live chat button down each time you decide to leave your computer - a bit of a hassle in it's current form, but I am sure the team plans on improving this :)

Would be fun to be able to chat without the users approval tho...

hi im dying to allow my visitors to my website select a 'Click here to chat' option is there any news on a Woopra feature to do this?

For me this kind of option would work really well it it displayed / showed as active only when I specify as available on the Woopra control panel. Kind of like you can select an on line status in a chat program like msn. Ie

    On Line
    Off Line
    Away
    Busy

How do you set up the click to chat feature? I think maybe my virus software is blocking it but I can't seem to find a remedy. I use Vista Ultimate and TrendMicro. Is there something I need to install?

  • Woopra is working on adding a "Click Here to Chat" web page widget, so stay tuned.

To chat with someone, click on their visitor ID and click Start a Conversation link on the upper right corner. If they have javascript enabled, it will pop open a window on their web page, if they are still on your site. They can accept or close the window.

So far, we have no reports of any program blocking these.

I just tried the chat option by clicking the visitor and starting a conversation but ran into a problem. The window of the chat text displays to the visitor but it doesn't allow the visitor to chat back. There wasn't any kind of accept for the visitor. Is this a bug? Overall, this functionality is very exciting and I cannot wait for the entire widget to be released!

  • The chat panel has a brown background with black letters, is it possible to modify the CSS for the popup window?

I've also seen some other sites with custom chat boxes. I would like to know how to edit the colors. Thank you.
