I see this bit of text in the installation guide:

"Note: Be patient when you first start Woopra as it takes a short time to assimilate all your blog’s traffic history and stats. The process may take a few minutes or a few hours depending upon the age, traffic, and history of your site."

Does Woopra attempt to go through older logs, or does it only start recording from the moment of install?

We record from the moment you put the Woopra code on your website. What this note is referring to is when you log into the Woopra client. When the client is started, it must communicate to the server and that data transfer will only be increase as time goes on as there will be more stats accumulated.
