Woopra uses GMC but I live in GMC+2 (Germany). Woopra thinks it's saturday but it's sunday already down here. Where do I change the time zone?

  • You can change timezone in the members area at woopra.com.

    Posted 4 months ago #
  • Specifically Members > My Websites > Time Zone. Click on the number under the Time Zone column and set the correct number there.

Thanks! And where do I find descriptions of the different timezones? What timezone is Germany?

  • Google :-)

    Here is one: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=168

    Well, I know that I'm UTC/GMT +2 hours. 2 is my Woopra timezone - but Woopra thinks it's 11:14 while it's 13:14 o' clock already.

Okay, I found out that Woopra uses different time zones in different windows. "Live" shows the right time, "Dashboard" is two hours behind but counting actual visitors.

    IT'S A BUG, IT'S NOT A FEATURE! :-)

Agreed! This is a bug that will become very confusing.

I'm lucky, I'm only an hour out in the UK and it'll be right come the winter when we're not on summer time!!

  • I just want to verify this. Where on the Live and Dashboard panels are you seeing the time differences? All my clocks match my time and time zone. If you can provide as much information as possible that will help us narrow it down and determine if others are having the same problem.

    Thank you!

Lorelle, I'm seeing the same: the time in the right hand lower corner is my correct local time (I'm on GMT+2). Information abot live visitors is shown using the local time too (although in 12-hour format, rather confusing). The yellow and green graphs on the top seem to use GMT (2 hours behind my case). So does the hourly overview in the dashboard. Hope you get this sorted, because I'm already hooked to all those live stats ;-)

How is Woopra dealing with time zones anyway? I changed the time zone in my Woopra account (Members Area/My Websites/Timezones) from 2 to 4 with no visisble effects: "Dashboard" ("My Referrers") still displays GMT, "Live" still displays GMT+2 (which is correct).

    Hi all,

I'm based in Germany, too, and can confirm this confusing behaviour, too.
While the live clock in the statusbar (right end) shows the correct local (german) time, all timestamps in the dashboard are 2 hours behind.
I changed my Timezone value in the members' area from 1 to 3 (because I thought German daylight saving time is GMT+3 ?!) but to no avail.
Should I restart Woopra? Will it change a thing? I'll try ...

    cya,
    Stefan.

    P.S.:
    - the Woopra version I have is 1.1.1.0 beta,
    - the correct timezone for Germany would be GMT/UTC+1 but because of the current DST it's GMT/UTC+2 (according to the link provided above)
    - restart of Woopra doesn't help with the wrong timestamps

    take care,
    Stefan.

  • We're working on the timestamp bug. A lot of testers are having trouble with determining their GMT/UTC so we thought this was the initial issue, but we see now, thanks to all of you, that there is a little disconnect in the times. Thanks for letting us know!

Another way to explain the same problem (from my perspective).

The live stats show new visitors arriving around 9pm right now, which matches my local time. However, the dashboard is already showing 20 visits for Tuesday, which hasn't arrived here yet (it's 9pm on Monday). That area should be using "-5" as well, which would have all of the visitors still showing up in Monday's stats.

The clock in the corner appears to just be pulling from my Windows clock and is apparently irrelevant to this conversation.

    I hope that helps.

I just downloaded the latest version of Woopra and my time in the Dashboard is 5 hours off, even though the setting in Timezone on the site is set to CST USA. The time in the Live is correct, but Dashboard is way off.

  • I'm in the same situation. Timezone the site is correct, but Dashboard shows wrong time. I have just started to use woopra today.

Just to confirm, although my timezone in the members area is listed correctly ( -5 Greenwich), Woopra is showing three hours later ( -2 Greenwich)

I am getting an error w/ the Time Zone.
I updated my time zone online to -5 (NY EST time).
It did not reflect in the Desktop Woopra application.
Still recording one day later. Also, the online version is not recording at all.

I'm guessing tomorrow (my real Wedenesday), it will bring over the stats? for that day & continue to record one day ahead?

This issue makes the Online Stats Count vs. the Desktop Application way off.

  • Thanks for the updates on this issue. We're working on it and it will be fixed in the next release, which will include some very good additions and improvements - so stay tuned.

I am in Arizona and it is 0723 (and that is shown in bottom of Woopra)but the dashboard shows people coming at 1400 to my site today. This SEEING INTO THE FUTURE would be great to let me know of upcoming spikes on my site! LOL

Seriously if the times at the top of my dashboard are so far off it will be IMPOSSIBLE TO USE WOOPRA and I will have to go back to another product. I like the interface and data I have seen so far but if the times mean nothing to me it's pretty clos eot useless
