New Update Failing in Vista

When I launch the Woopra client in Vista this morning, it downloads an update and then tells me that "Woopra was not able to launch the update installer." It says to go to http://www.woopra.com/members/download.jsp to download the new version, but that just takes me to a 404 page.

I *did* re-download and install the main install file from the main Download page, but it still tries to update every time I run the software. And even if I cancel the update immediately, it continues to try in the background *and* to retry over and over and over as I try to login.

    I'm stuck.

    same with me

I didn't get any UAC prompts during the upgrade.

Isn't one of those required when you update Program Files\ in vista?

aye, that setup/installer prompts for UAC, that is why it works.

I think they forgot to implement vista compatibility in the updater.

If your on vista and the upgrade fails for you and points you to http://www.woopra.com/members/download.jsp to download all you need to do is

right click the woopra client and run as an administrator and it will update with no problems

I know what UAC is, i was just stating that if the user did not know why the client would not update, that was the easiest way

true, right clicking and running as administrator is quicker then re-downloading from the site.

Yeah, right clicking worked. Thanks. Strange, though. That shouldn't be the way to launch Woopra.

This problem is not just in Vista, this also happens in XP64. I am having the same problem. Right clicking and "run as Administrator" does not work for me.

    XP64 does not have UAC.

You prob have a java/path issue.

  • In Windows Vista I keep getting a user account control every time I launch Woopra and I have click "Allow" The message says "An Unidentified Program Wants To Access Your Computer" I think this is Windows Defender but I can not figure out to mark Woopra as "trusted" in Vista.

    Thanks
    Mark

  • I forgot to say this did not happen before the 1.2 upgrade.
