Just updated to the new client, and I get a Java startup error now.

The automatic update just downloaded, and then I got the same error.

  • Same problem here:

    1. Had problems to connect to Woopra during the whole day.
    2. A few minutes ago, Woopra told me to upgrade...
    3. And after installing the upgrade, I got the same notification like xorsyst.

I am running Woopra on MS Windows Vista with SP-1.

  • On a Mac under 10.5.3.

Just got an update message when launching the client. The update failed telling me to change to root or download the install from the website.

I downloaded the client, installed the update, then attempted to run. I got the following Java Exception:

    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.woopra.client.Main
    	at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200)
    	at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)

    	at apple.launcher.LaunchRunner.callMain(LaunchRunner.java:50)
    	at apple.launcher.JavaApplicationLauncher.launch(JavaApplicationLauncher.java:52)

Can't get the client to run now.

Hmm the update basically fails completely here on Leopard 10.5.3 - just downloaded the client manually from the website as suggested in the message but i guess it's better not to update for now.

  • FYI:

I also just auto-upgraded, but everything seems to be working fine. Thank you!

EDIT: to help the dev team, I'm running WinXP, with the latest JAVA.

Interestingly enough, I had the same issue with the auto update and running as admin. So I did the manual install. The program launches but when trying to go to the live tab, the program freezes and doesn't respond ... end process is required.

    Vista Home Premium SP1

I have tried completely uninstalling the application and doing a fresh install, this does not correct the issue.

  • For feedback's sake, I just installed 1.1.2.1 on my Mac (10.5.3) and it's working great again. Thanks Woopra dev team for fixing quickly! :)

    Posted 4 months ago #
  • Well woopra 1.1.2.1beta starts ok for me on 10.5.3. problem is that I'm pretty sure the live count is not correct. I'm showing 230+ online, when i know it's really at about 80. Also, pretty much clicking on anything results in the client hanging, requiring a restart of the app. Anyone else have this problem?

  • To the MAc users, how did you get it to work? I am running 10.5.3 with the latest Java 6. I followed the instruction and re-downloaded it 3 times. However, I am still receiving the same error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: java/awt/SystemTray
    at com.woopra.client.gui.WFrame.<init>(CMCJ)
    at com.woopra.client.Main.main(CMCJ)

    at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:585)
    at com.exe4j.runtime.LauncherEngine.launch(Unknown Source)
    at com.install4j.runtime.MacLauncher.main(Unknown Source)
    at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method)

    at apple.launcher.LaunchRunner.callMain(LaunchRunner.java:50)
    at apple.launcher.JavaApplicationLauncher.launch(JavaApplicationLauncher.java:52)

If there is a newer download link, please let me know.
    Thanks

You need to update the plist values of both application and installer to jvm 1.6+ instead of the present 1.3+. At any rate, I had the same error and one making that change Woopra loaded fine.

    Posted 4 months ago #
  • Thanks iayork: My problem is solved. I did not make changes to the application's p.list only to the installer..

Of like 4 systems ... I got the client to work on one system after hours of work. JAVA blows!
Oh, and the web thingy doesn't work either. I'll take functional over purdy any day.
Beta testing only works if there is something to test.
