Folks,
Technically speaking, tracking statistics for tens of thousands of sites is a very complex thing to do. We have several custom pieces of software running across a large number of machines that all must work together in order to reliably track, analyze and display site stats.
There are many new users who have recently heard of Woopra and signed up, but who don't understand the history of this project. Woopra is not currently in open Beta. It is a closed Beta, which means that people must wait in line. The wait is expected to average 2-4 weeks - though it may be less or more (vague enough for you?).
Woopra was launched just over 30 days ago at WordCamp and was only meant for 200 people initially. Because of the incredible demand we have escalated the timeline and rushed to approve over 10,000 users in just over three weeks. Since completing the mass approval, we've found that in a period of only a few days we've already had another 10,000 users requesting service!
As you can see, we've been providing routine updates via the Blog, so the best thing you can do at this point to stay informed would be to subscribe for updates. The Blog is the only place we will give updates on the approvals situation.
The popularity of Woopra is growing at a faster rate than just about any other service I've seen on the Internet. After only 5 weeks there are 350,000 links from Google, and the number is growing every day. At times, we are also getting hundreds of signups per hour.
We need everyone to be a little patient with us (even Vindictive Bastards :-) ) while we build out the entire infrastructure required to scale this project. We have people asking us to de-bug and release the client software faster (by the way 10k users is a big enough sample size, I assure you!), we have to work with Layered Technologies on getting more and more servers deployed, we are working on recruiting and hiring staff, we have corporate, legal, and financial issues to deal with - and I assure you we're working on all of these issues literally around the clock.
It's not that we want people to wait. If we had a Genie we'd wish that Woopra could accommodate everyone right now. But we don't, so instead we'll keep working as fast as we can!
Thanks to everyone for your interest, and understanding.
John
