Weird reference to search-engine

Using Woopra on http://www.rensenieuwenhuis.nl (and being amazed by the capabilities), I've found one strange issue: when looking at individual visitors and where they come from, the search-engine referrals are completely messed up.

It might for instance say that a visitor comes from: jaspertjong.nl (Rennes).

Jaspertjong.nl is a blog by a friend of mine (and my blog refers to it), but it is certainly not a search-engine on which people can look for something like Rennes (which is a city in France I recently visited for a conference, which I blogged upon).

Looking at the search-terms on the woopra dashboard, indeed people find my blog based on the keyword Rennes.

So I think that, for some reason, the name of the search engine (google, probably) is replaced by the address of my friend's blog.

How is that possible? (and what to do about it)

(I hope I made my point clear, otherwise please ask for clarification)

  • I have the same issue.

Mine is specific to google searches only.

It was working okay, the yahoo search references as well as google. Those are the only 2 I have.

Then, one time when I edited some dmoz.org directories, I clicked through onto my own site.

Since then, all my google references are now showing the keywords correctly, although showing editors.dmoz.org as the search engine rather than google.com or google.com.au or whatever. This only applies to the "search" view.

This does not apply to searches from yahoo though, only google is affected for me.

No real issue, just a bug - more annoying than anything else, functionally still good. Again, only bug is in "search" view. "Dashboard" still correctly shows there the searches came from.
