  • Check out Woopra 1.2 RC2 and let us know what you think:

    Windows Version:
    http://www.woopra.com/pre/woopra_windows_1_2_rc2.exe

    Mac Version:
    http://www.woopra.com/pre/woopra_macos_1_2_rc2.dmg

    Linux Version:
    http://www.woopra.com/pre/woopra_unix_1_2_rc2.sh

The most important changes in this release are:

    - Woopra now works with Java 1.5! So users using PowerPC are now able to use Woopra.
    - A New Woopra Home view, showing the Woopra Blog and a summary of all your websites.
    - Major CPU Performance improvements.
    - Much less memory leaks, less crashes & more stability.
    - Major update in the Woopra Connection Handling (If a server goes down for maintenance, it does not disconnect the other websites...)

The list of TODO is growing! We will be throwing Release Candidate more frequently for testers.

The important thing is that this release is much better than 1.1.2.2! Update it now...

    Looking good, so far!!!

    One problem/suggestion:
I am using a 24" monitor with 768x1024. On the right side of the "Search" screen, the referring url is being cut off. I can see perhaps the first 10 or 12 letter (ie "From google.com") and the rest is cut off. Perhaps you can remove the avatar on the left side of the screen or remove the word "from" or make the icons on the left of the screen smaller. Or when you pass over the url, you can show the complete url instead of the visitor info that you show when you pass over all the other fields.

    Keep up the good work!

  • medalia: the best solution is a tooltip text! do you agree?

I have 2 sites being tracked by woopra. They both connect when I login, but the second quickly changes status to "Disconnected".
Anyone else seeing anything like this? Logging out/back in just gives me the same problem.

    Elie...

Yes, a tooltip would be perfect. Thanks!

What is the purpose of the avatar on the left side?

    Posted 4 months ago #
  • If the visitor has an avatar, it will show it.

    Elie...

Quite honestly, I have NEVER had a visitor with an avatar. Takes up a lot of space and I recommend that it should be an option whether it shows or not.

Also, all of a sudden the same problem I had with the previous version where search just says "loading" is occurring again. Is this a server problem?

    Thanks again...

I had the same issues as Medelia on Mandriva Linux 2008.1 x86_64. Apparently, it cannot find Java.

  • Do you have Sun Java 1.5 or 1.6 installed on that machine?

  • @medalia: Avatars/Gravatars are now very common and increasing in usage on websites and blogs. WordPress now has Gravatars and identicons (a random avatar generator) built into their latest versions. While these tend to be forum and blog specific, they are everywhere. So inclusion within Woopra is natural.

The avatar is often a picture or image that represents the person or their blog. As part of the socialization of the web, this brand identity is really important.

I don't think any web analytics program except Woopra includes avatars in their stats. But then, Woopra does a lot of things other stats programs don't. :D

    Hi Lorelle...

Thanks for your response regarding Avatars. We're planning on using Woopra for business purposes and avatars are totally unnecessary and take up useful space on the screen. Again, give us a choice...make it an option to see that avatars.

    Thanks.

I love the new version. It looks great. I have woopra on 18 sites. The old version would list all the sites in the tabs at the top. Now it only shows 9 sites in the tabs. If would be nice if it listed all the sites in multiple rows.

The new tabs on the left do list all the sites, but when I click on one and look at that sites info, it would be nice if it stated at the top of stats page what site I was looking at.

Minor things for sure, compared to how nice everything else is.

    Keep up the great work.

I thought someone else posted this, but can't find it now...so I'll post the issue again.

First - the new version is quite grand! Well done.

Now - the SYSTEM TRAY ICON doesn't exist in the Windows version. Once I shut the app down, to truly close it, I have to go to windows task manager and kill the process.

Can we bring that friendly little system tray icon back?

    Thanks!

I'm confused.. The original post says this is "much better than 1.1.2.2".. However, when I download the linux version, the install program has "1.1.2.2" in the titlebar, and, once installed, the program reports that it is at 1.1.2.2.

In addition, I am unable to connect. When I try to log in, it says "Connecting to Woopra", then "Connected, loading websites", then "You have been disconnected." I have been unable to log on for a couple days now.

    I'm running Ubuntu 8.04
