wrong city !!!

    hey!

    what's going on here? I'm visiting my site from Mainz,Germany but I get localized in Munich,Germany - that's 500 kilometers off!

    but when running tracert to http://www.google.com I can see that I'm crossing gateways which can easily be localized in Mainz.

    Earlier this day I visited the site from somewhere else in Mainz and it worked just perfectly fine - but my first gateway has the same name (except for its index).

    how does woopra determine the whereabouts?

    this city/region-feature is very useful but only if I can depend on it.

    It is usually hard to determine the city with an ip-adress. You can not depend on it. But you can often be sure of that the country is correct.

    if i remember right, i`ve read about that woopra is going to update their geo database in some weeks.. so maybe, that update or change of the database file/producer will fix that strange munich(münchen)/Mainz behaviour..

    would be nice, cause im from munich, too.. ;)

    I noticed that I have a few visitors with dynamic IP addresses accessing me via fiber optic ISPs. Some of their IPs are marked correctly as "Japan" but on others, they belong to that vast country called "Unknown." How is it, then, that Woopra knows it's the same user without knowing they're from the same country? Cookies or something? Wild.

    Unfortunately my users do not hold any city or country identification any more.

    Since May 21st there is no such thing! :-(
    I am very unhappy about that, because I loved that feature.
    On May 18th I upgraded my Wordpress-Blog from Version 2.2 to 2.51. But after that everything was still fine until that very 21st.
    Did you change something?
